National Grid is hiring a Operations Analyst Engineer for our Electricity Distribution (NGED) team based in Taunton, Somerset. This role offers hybrid working and will see you working in the office 3 days per week at our site in Taunton, Somerset.

Why This Role Matters: As the primary point of contact for end user device support within NG Telecoms, you will be at the forefront of maintaining smooth operations. Your expertise will enable fast, secure, and resilient communication services, directly supporting our wider mission. Collaborating with Operations Lead Specialist Engineers, you will provide technical assistance, solve customer service queries, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.

What You'll Do

 

  • Collaborate closely with the User Operations team, Service Desk, Field User team, and customers to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Perform on-site hardware and software root cause fixes across multiple locations.
  • Contribute to large-scale projects that impact both customers and staff.
  • Work alongside other IT and Business departments to ensure our products and applications are fit for purpose.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation of systems and business procedures.
  • Design and deliver training materials, guiding customers and staff on best practices for using technical products and applications.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including fire and emergency precautions.

About You

 

  • Proven experience in resolving challenging technical problems.
  • Familiarity with technologies that support endpoints in an enterprise environment.
  • Background in a professional office setting and customer-facing roles.
  • Proficiency in Endpoint Management tools such as SCCM, Intune, Autopilot, and MDT.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies like VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and LAN/VLAN/WAN.
  • Programming skills in PowerShell, Batch, VBScript, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving, research, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to meet strict deadlines and perform well under pressure.

A competitive salary between £54,090 - £63,940 per annum – dependent on capability
