Job Purpose
The New York Major Projects Team drives project management for major electric capital construction projects, leading the clean energy transformation and significant portfolio growth at National Grid. Projects include multi-year large-scale transmission line, distribution line, and substation construction projects. The dedicated Lead Project Manager will oversee and drive major electric capital construction projects, ensuring safe delivery within budget, schedule, and scope.
Accountabilities

Drive best in class strategic, critical, and complex electrical capital construction projects in National Grid’s New York electric region ensuring safe delivery, within budget and on schedule.

Build relationships and collaboration with stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate expectations.

Manage siting, permitting, regulatory approvals including cost recovery mechanisms, and customer/community commitments.

Foster and promote a culture of inter-department efficiency, teamwork, and collaboration across the organization.

Navigate emerging issues and risks and identify actionable solutions.

Provide project management consulting and expertise for peers within the Engineering & Design groups. Seek and promote ‘best practices’ approach to project management within the team and work group.

Lead project strategy and update presentations to senior leadership

Drive continuous improvement of project management processes, methodologies, and tools

Own decisions in risk management including calculated risks and outcomes.

Drive project compliance with internal Business Management System (BMS) for major projects

Mentor junior project managers

Provide emergency storm restoration support during weather events
Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and/or significant relevant project management, engineering and construction experience in all aspects of utility substation/line construction operations.

5+ years experience within the electric utility sector in complex project management, engineering, contracts, construction, or operations.

5+ years of detailed project financial forecasting and reporting

5+ years of managing, coaching, and leading teams in a matrix organization

5+ years experience presenting to executives

Strong skills in: negotiations, presentation, construction management, interpersonal & written communication, cost forecasting, stakeholder management, and critical analysis.

Experience with Primavera P6, Procore, Powerplan, Microsoft Office, Power BI, SharePoint, and MS Teams.

Exhibit high personal standards of commitment and integrity.

Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer license (PE) preferred

Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history required.

$127k - $149k a year
