Civil/Structural Drafitng Technician B- Summer Intern
Description:
The position is located in Syracuse, NY. We currently have one Summer Intern opening available. The starting pay rate for this position is $28.79 per hour. As an intern, you will gain exposure to a wide range of technical and operational opportunities. You will also acquire critical insight into our company and our industry, as well as have the chance to develop valuable networking connections, which will help prepare and develop your skills for future career opportunities.
Under direct supervision, perform drafting and elementary detailing involving no original design of plans and drawings for construction projects of all types, and diagrams, maps and records, and perform such duties as:
- Assist in recording on standard maps and records complex additions and retirements of electrical facilities and simple additions and retirements of civil amenities and structures within electric facilities as shown on construction and retirement orders
- Assist in ordering and distributing to various departments, prints prepared from standard maps and drawings
- Prepare finished civil drawings diagrams designed by others
- Revise existing civil drawings in accordance with as-built information
- Assist drafters and designers of a higher classification as needed
- Assist in ordering and distributing prepared prints
- Assist in field visits as needed
Qualifications
- Enrolled in an applicable Civil/Structural Engineering Technology program at an accredited school
- 3.0 cumulative GPA at time of application, undergraduate students
- 3.2 cumulative GPA at time of application, graduate students
- 18 credits or more toward completion of program enrolled in
- 18 years or older
- Authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the internship
- Registered as a full-time student
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with computer aided drafting (CAD), specifically MicroStation is a benefit.
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
Pay Rate: $28.79/hr
