National Grid is hiring a Supervisor for our Gas Field Operations department. This field-based role is based in South Yarmouth, MA.

The Role

The Supervisor is responsible for the safety and security of the gas distribution system through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel to complete job tasks while complying with company and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the operational workload and monitor the performance of team members to ensure that all work tasks comply with Company, Federal and State policies and to ensure a safe working environment to minimize risk for all staff
  • Supervise a union workforce through coaching, counseling and team building to ensure tasks are carried out in an efficient manner
  • Review, ensure accuracy and execute the approval of payroll activities
  • Build good working relationships with internal & external customers and manage the day-to-day relationship with them to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions within National Grid policies and processes
  • Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work to ensure work is performed efficiently and effectively
  • Promote and implement best practices to ensure all work tasks achieve high productivity and low costs

About You

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of experience managing a union workforce required
  • Technical proficiency with gas field operations preferred
  • Demonstrated experience building effective & respectful working relationships required
  • Ability to perform off-hour coverage required
  • Flexibility in yard coverage required
  • Valid driver’s license required

Salary

$98,000 - $120,000 a year

 

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
