National Grid is hiring a Change & Engagement Lead- This position is based from our Sheffield office however we offer flexible hybrid working options.

Job Purpose

The Construction Strategy Change and Engagement Lead is responsible for shaping and delivering the communication and engagement strategy for the change, transformation and digital landscape Construction Strategy. This role plays a key part in ensuring that all digital, change and transformation initiatives are clearly communicated, widely understood, and positively received across the organisation.

 

The holder is responsible for creating, updating and enacting a strategic engagement plan & training plan and will create a single consistent messaging voice, with clarity of tone and enhancing user experience for our people.  This will ensure alignment in narratives across teams, a single source of information which in turn will increase engagement and adoption of change.  This will build trust and understanding within teams and create a feeling of belonging and inclusion within the transformation journey.

 

Working closely with central comms, change managers, product teams, and business stakeholders, the Construction Strategy  Change Engagement Lead ensures that messages are consistent, on-brand, and tailored to the needs of different audiences, in addition to ensure our supply chain partners and internal teams are trained on our processes and tools.  

 

This role is pivotal to increasing awareness, trust, and engagement for our people, as well as supporting adoption of change at all levels of the organisation.

What You'll Do

Strategic Communication Planning 

    • Own the Construction Strategy Development & Change engagement strategy.
    • Work with transformation, digital and change leaders to align messaging with strategic goals and company wide transformation initiatives.
    • Plan and manage communication campaigns to support strategic transformation progress, digital product launches and individual change initiatives.
    • Plan, prepare and engage in training activities where required

     

    Content Development and Management 

    • Create or oversee production of high-quality content, including newsletters, videos, articles, intranet updates, and presentations.
    • Ensure consistency of tone, language, and branding across all communication materials.
    • Maintain the digital hub and intranet presence as the central source of information for digital change.

     

    Engagement and Stakeholder Management

    • Design and deliver engaging formats such as webinars, podcasts, or virtual events to bring digital change to life.
    • Develop and maintain stakeholder feedback mechanisms and engagement metrics.
    • Support the engagement needs of Digital, Change and Transformation teams, including internal updates and leadership messages.

     

    Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

    • Collaborate closely with the Comms Partner to ensure coordinated communications.
    • Champion best practice in digital communication and employee engagement.
    • Continuously improve communication tools, templates, and channels based on feedback and outcomes.

About You

  • Experience in Change Management and/ or communications, ideally within a digital or transformation environment.
  • Ability to create engagement strategies and recognise what will work best for the needs of the business.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats and platforms.
  • Proven ability to engage diverse audiences with clear, compelling messages.
  • Experience delivering campaigns and internal engagement events or media.
  • Confident working with senior leaders and translating technical content into user-friendly language.
  • Familiarity with digital tools for content management and communication (e.g., SharePoint, intranet platforms, video tools).
  • Understanding of change management principles is an advantage.

What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £48,000 – £57,000 dependent on capability

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive

  • 26 days holiday, plus eight statutory days, an option to buy extra holiday days, and the option to holiday swap up to 3 bank holiday days

  • A generous pension scheme, double matched up to 6% of your salary each month. For every £1 you contribute we’ll put in another £2, so if you put in 6%, we’ll add 12% giving a total of 18% to your pension pot
