About the role
Grain LNG is Europe’s largest liquefied natural gas importation terminal by storage capacity, located on the Isle of Grain in Kent. The terminal plays a critical role in supporting the UK’s energy security by providing substantial regasification, storage, and send out capability which is sufficient to supply 25-30% of Great Britain’s gas demand. As an expanding critical energy asset positioned for the future energy transition, Grain LNG continues to evolve—enhancing operational resilience, embracing new technologies, and shaping its role as a key enabler of the UK’s Net Zero ambitions.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior HR Advisor to join our team at Grain LNG.
The role will be a reactive generalist HR role responsible for providing both strategic and operational guidance and support to all levels of stakeholders across the full range of HR activity including HR Policy, Legislation, case management and employee relations, HR governance and compliance.
The role is a hybrid role based on site at the Isle of Grain and you can enjoy working from the office 2 days a week as well as from home.
We are open to full time applications and also happy to consider flexible working options too.
What you'll do
General Support and Advice
- Provide reactive and effective HR support and advice to Managers and Employees consistent with Company Policy, Legislation and Best Practice
- Case management - advise and support investigations, disciplinaries, grievances, performance management, absence management, redundancies including administration of notes, letters, outcomes etc.
- Recruitment, Interview, and onboarding support, as required alongside resourcer/administrator.
- Development and Distribution of communications – announcements, policies, FAQs etc.
- Learning & development – facilitate training and development programs and initiatives, in collaboration with training team, to enhance employee and leadership competency and performance
- KPI’s/Statistics. Review and analyze people data to inform decision making and improve HR process and practice.
- Support HR lead with strategy planning and developing an attractive employee value proposition to attract and retain highly skilled workforce.
HR Project Work
- Support key projects in line with HR Strategy
- Chair and support Local Joint Trade Union Forum
- Continuous improvement to develop, update, and improve HR tools, policies, and documentation as required in line with legislation and best practice
- Mentoring HR Administrator
- Provide Managers with statistics/reports as required
- Undertaking CPD and keeping up to date with legislation and best practice
What you'll need
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant Employment Law, and general HR Policies and Procedures
- Previous experience of working within a HR environment.
- Minimum CIPD Level 5 qualified
- Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft applications
- Good knowledge and experience of operating HR systems/applications
- Professional and approachable
- Excellent communication skills at all level both verbal and written
- Several years of experience working in a HR generalist team
- Experience of managing complex case management
- Trade Union experience desirable
- Ability to build proven relationships with all levels of stakeholder
- Influencing and collaborative approach to problem solving
- Highly Organised and detail oriented
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Excellent communication and IT skills including HRIS platforms
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £48,000-£55,000 per annum – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits.
