LNG Terminal Design Engineer
About the role
As a LNG Terminal Design Engineer, you will provide vital support to the Technical Development Manager to ensure the effective technical oversight in your discipline as well as managing a portfolio of projects which are delivered as part of a large programme of works.
Responsible for embedding a culture of continuous improvement within a team using performance excellence, implementing visual performance management and problem-solving techniques, you will develop an effective and highly motivated workforce, delivering year-on-year cost efficiencies and improvements in productivity and resource utilisation whilst maintaining world-class operational excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction.
Working closely with key stakeholders, project controls, construction, and our contracting partners to drive maximum efficiency through delivery of the project engineering plans, you will be responsible for ensuring the workforce within the area is appropriately trained, competent and has the necessary flexibility to meet current and future workload requirements.

This role is based from our world-class facility in Kent, and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home.
What you'll do
- Acting as the focal point for leading technical projects, you will be responsible for managing the scope, schedule and budget. You will author and review technical reports/documentation and obtain necessary stakeholder appraisals and approvals. You will carry out project handover to procurement and construction stages. You will also mentor junior engineers and support other members of the Technical Development team in their projects.
- Ensuring data is recorded correctly to support accurate management and regulatory reporting KPI’s, you will monitor team operational performance to ensure all objectives are met and that all issues are anticipated, escalated and resolved in a timely manner.
- You will provide visible and front-line engagement with terminal stakeholders, the wider project team and suppliers, being responsible for effective management of key technical interfaces.
- You will monitor contractor workforce ensuring the delivery of design and engineering within a project function or plant area. You will ensure that technical queries are responded to promptly and efficiently, thus ensuring site operations continue unimpeded.
- With responsibility for overseeing and ensuring that contracting partners fully adhere to the technical requirements stipulated in scopes, specifications, and other contractual documentation, you will also be responsible for ensuring that effective and comprehensive safety, operational and maintenance requirements are incorporated into all design and engineering activities. You will support documentation review cycles by providing timely comments via the project document control system.
- You will be proactive in the development and delivery of the work programme or plant configuration plan with the planning team, ensuring these are tracked and updated regularly to maintain targets as necessary. You will provide input into the short, medium and long term planning of work schedules and targets.
What you'll need
- You will have an engineering degree or relevant qualification and ideally be Chartered or developing towards an appropriate professionally recognised status. You will have previous experience of working with LNG and a top tier CoMAH site.
- An excellent communicator, you will have the ability to organise and plan work efficiently. You will have great project management and stakeholder engagement skills, essential for delivering projects to scope, schedule, budget and quality, whilst always putting safety at the forefront.
- With a comprehensive understanding of safety, technical issues and site specifications & procedures, you will manage the interface of on-site activities for the project portfolio.
- You shall also have a good understanding of the external organisations influencing technical development such as EU, UK Government, HSE, Ofgem, supplier forums and consumer expectations. In addition, knowledge of HSE regulations, current industry standards, competencies, safe control of operations, policy development and industry strategy is required.
- You will effectively manage allocated budgets and control on-the-job expenditures accordingly.

- A competitive salary of £54,000 to £67,539 per annum - dependent on capability.
- Established market supplement of £6,000 per annum (paid monthly).
