OHL Project Leader
We’re looking for a passionate OHL Project Lead to join our Overhead Lines Teams!
In this role, you will help ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of the electricity transmission network through the efficient and cost-effective maintenance of Overhead Line (OHL) assets. Supporting the OHL Team Engineer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day coordination of resources, prioritisation of work activities and delivery of maintenance programmes and projects across the network. Your responsibilities will include carrying out maintenance, fault investigation and repairs, supporting project delivery, implementing safety requirements, and monitoring and supervising both internal teams and contractors to ensure work is completed to the highest standards.
There are Opportunities are available across Swansea, Bushbury, Bramford, Penwortham, West Boldon and Skelton Grange, as well as two national roles supporting activities across the UK. What You’ll Do:
- Carry out roles as defined in National Grid’s processes and procedures including, ‘Person in Charge’ and ‘Project Leader’ within their sphere of competency, i.e. holding appropriate safety documents as required.
- Undertake duties on a wide range of plant and equipment, including fault investigation and repair and routine inspections.
- Ensure that staff is set to work in accordance with National Grid policy and procedures, produce risk assessments and method statements for all work activities, and ensure tool box talks take place.
- Provide support and assistance OHL Team Engineer and other team members, including reviewing delivery performance.
- Monitor, review and progress contracts, progress work undertaken by contractors, including enacting roles as defined in CDM Regulations.
- Undertake project site/work delivery activities, acting as appointed Principal Contractor Representative (PC). Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) under National Grid’s procedures and processes.
- Ensure productivity, efficiency and utilisation of various work groups by taking responsibility for direct control of staff and project expenditure.
What You’ll Have:
- In depth technical knowledge relating to the electrical, mechanical and General safety aspects of OHL plant, together with fault finding expertise and plant analysis.
- A sound knowledge of general safety and ability to produce Risk Assessments and Method Statements to a high standard.
- Understanding of relevant National Grid’s operational policies, procedures and processes.
- Project delivery experience on a full range of complex, multi-interface projects will be required Experiences required.
- Experience of working unsupervised on a wide range of transmission equipment as part of a fully integrated team but with occasional lone working.
- Effective planning, man-management, communication and supervisory skills to lead groups of staff to achieve efficient completion of tasks.
