OHL Operational Planning Assistant
Operational Planners will be accountable for the optimisation, prioritisation, resourcing, and scheduling of the operational plan for the current year, ensuring that zonal targets are fully met. They will prioritise and resolve current year planning conflicts within appropriate timescales. Additionally, Operational Planners will monitor progress against outcome targets within their zone, proactively resolving any escalations that arise.
The ideal candidate would be based 45 minutes away from one substations (Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham and Preston). We encourage a hybrid working approach, although we’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
- Responsible for a rolling and dynamic plan for all operational, unlicensed and capital works within a specified Zone; focusing on the Operational 0-1 year timescales. Prioritise all works to be delivered by ET Asset Operations.
- Confirm and share with wider business the agreed operational plan.
- Ensure timely safety risk assessments are initiated where maintenance has been deferred and assess and manage any constraints to determine any mitigating actions which are required to meet area targets and ensure plan deliverability.
- Work collaboratively with all National Grid delivery units to co-ordinate and manage conflict in the plan through cross functional working to determine whether the work & outage mix can be adjusted to meet the outcome target as and when required and identify opportunities to flex work within the zone, escalating any issues to the cross functional teams. Identify the need for work to be re-planned and manage change requests to the plan efficiently determining the limiting factor and ensure all re-planning activities are carried out in a timely manner.
- Ensure all planning decisions are documented in the relevant systems and are communicated with reasoning to all relevant stakeholders.
- Engage delivery units, Project Engineers and Development Engineers around scheme development and scheme management processes.
- Work with process owners to drive improvements in the core planning process.
- Review and sign off demand at risk in a timely manner.
- Provide clear direction and guidance to the activities of the OHL Scheduling Assistant.
- Ensure assets are compliant with statutory requirements, company policy obligations. Ensure a robust audit trail is maintained, WSEs, Routines and maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure operational compliance, safety and delivery within Overhead Lines.
What You'll Have
- Minimum ONC (GNVQ level 3) preferably in an engineering discipline or the relevant experience in a previous role
- A Full UK Driving Licence.
- Demonstrated ability in managing and prioritising conflicts in real time.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex issues and their resolution and multitask and prioritise.
- Management of resource plans and other constraints in an operational environment.
- Proven flexibility to adapt positively to change.
