National Grid is hiring for a OHL Health & Safety Administrator (Tech Support) - Flexible working options Variable Base.

Job Purpose

 

To provide Overhead Line Technical Support nationally, acting as single point of contact for lead areas, ensuring statutory documentation is in place and ensuring staff are trained and competent to carry out work.

What you'll do

 

  • Manage all OHL Statutory Documentation across the zone including Emergency Files, Fire Risk Assessments & actions, Environmental Files/Plans, COSHH data, SHES record management etc.
  • Administer Commercial / Site Vehicle Fleet and act as single point of contactfor fleet provider.
  • Single point of contact for zonal issues incl. OHL Waste Management Contract, for Procurement Dept, technical queries/surveys.
  • Undertake site visits regularly across the zone to ensure compliance with statutory documentation.
  • Attendance on zonal working groups as required i.e. Working at Heights, PUWER, LOLER, PPE etc.
  • Manage zonal budgets for the following areas e.g. PPE, tools, training, stationary, commercial vehicle fleet.
  • Responsible for tracking all zonal actions ensuring timely closure e.g. accidents/incidents, audit actions, AMBP 120 audits actions.
  • Produce reports relating to SHESQ information and data where required.
  • Able to lead on a zonal initiative or working group to support, i.e. Health and Wellbeing, Employee Engagement etc.
  • Acts as Technical Secretary (incl. writing reports) for Medium Level Investigations
  • Responsible for the management of zonal calibration ensuring all test equipment and tools are compliant with NG procedures
  • Co-ordination of all electrical equipment PAT testing for the zone, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

About you

 

  • Previous electricity transmission or substation experience would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety management systems.
  • Strong communication skills - able to organise, manage and disseminate critical information.
  • Ability to work flexibly and meet the varying requirements of the management team.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and appropriate programmes.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills - able to organise own and others time effectively.
  • Demonstrate a self-reliance approach to common work related problems, using IS systems to resolve them.
  • Able to manage budgets and provide details of financial expenditure against budget for the zone.
  • BTEC, ONC or equivalent preferably in Engineering Subject
  • Full Driving license
  • NEBOSH General Certificate

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary between £43,000 - £48,000 – dependent on capability. A job requirement car is also provided.
