National Grid is hiring a Scheduling Coordinator for our Gas Dispatch department in Northboro, MA. This is an in-office role, Sunday-Thursday 1:00pm-9:00pm, with flexibility required based on operational needs.

The Role

The Real-Time Dispatch Coordinator serves as a critical operations hub responsible for managing and executing intraday field dispatching activities for Customer Meter Services (CMS). This role operates in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where priorities shift rapidly and decisions must be made in real time to support field operations, customer commitments, and public safety. Working closely with field operations, gas operations, and emergency response teams, this individual ensures seamless coordination, rapid response, and optimal deployment of technicians throughout the day.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a centralized command point for real-time field operations, coordinating technician activity and responding to changing conditions throughout the day.
  • Make rapid, informed decisions to adjust work assignments, routing, and priorities based on operational demands, emergencies, and customer needs.
  • Partner closely with Field Operations, Gas Ops, Resource Planning, Contact Center, and Collections to ensure seamless execution of work.
  • Monitor active work and technician status, proactively identifying risks to completion, service levels, or safety.
  • Coordinate response to urgent and emergent situations, ensuring appropriate escalation and resource deployment.
  • Maintain continuous communication with field teams to support successful and timely completion of work orders.
  • Optimize technician utilization through dynamic scheduling and real-time adjustments.
  • Serve as a key communication link across multiple stakeholders during high-volume or high-impact events.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a preference for Business or Communications major.
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • Curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to learn new tools and techniques
  • Bonus: experience with Salesforce, utility operations, field dispatching, or workforce management
  • Ability to work assigned shifts and adapt to changing schedules, including potential weekends or extended hours.
  • Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational support environment as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and effective in fast-paced or high-stress situations.
  • Proven experience coordinating multiple moving pieces simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and urgency.
  • Strong situational awareness and ability to assess evolving conditions and adjust priorities in real time.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly direct and coordinate across teams.
  • Highly organized with strong planning and execution skills.

Salary

$82,000 - $96,000 a year
