Job Purpose
The Mapping Coordinator shall support the Mapping Supervisor overseeing Mapping personnel involved in the collection and input of mapping data into the National Grid Mapping Applications to ensure safety and to achieve Line of Sight goals
Key Accountabilities
- Reports to the Supervisor of the Mapping Department
- Assist Supervisor of Mapping with training, monitoring, developing personnel, as well as other varied assigned duties in the GIS Maps and Records department as required.
- Review, approve and post maps and records projects to document management system and online map database.
- Maintain document management database & prepare and process Maps & Records historical and other documents for storage as required by National Grid policy.
- Support Group Management Interface related access requests to various drives and maintenance, including quarterly audit.
- Generate and update various reports as required to monitor performance against Line of Sight deliverables which include Safety, KPI’s & Compliance metrics.
- Assist Supervisor of Mapping in Performance Excellence. Ensuring the Department is meeting requisite goals, identifying concerns and causes of deficiencies, and recommending and implementing improvement opportunities in Maps & Records.
- Coordinate, generate and direct work as it comes into the department mailbox and work queue.
- Capture and manage 850 completion and GIS posting as related to department work queue.
- Manage 856 Mainline Map updates to ensure Critical Assets are captured and properly controlled during order closure.
- Coordinate with GIS helpdesk to ensure timely completion of design set and other GIS posting.
- Manage and maintain the distribution of Digital Assets to external customers for all Mapping Initiatives.
- Coordinate with Asset Data and Analytics to troubleshoot and maintain the integrity of the GIS infrastructure during ESRi file extracts.
- Assist with Disaster Recovery planning, Business Continuity Planning and Data Protection plans.
- Assist in the design and development of quality assurance/quality system practices and procedures to drive improvement on cycle time deliverables.
- Support other areas within the Mapping Department as required
Qualifications
- Associate degree in an engineering-related discipline or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience working in a mapping, engineering, GIS, or similar technical environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint.
- Ability to coordinate workloads, manage priorities, and support process improvements.
- 5 years experience in Mapping, Engineering, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS), in a supervisory or drafting capacity.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, or leading technical teams.
- Understanding of GIS platforms, mapping practices, records management, and drafting processes.
- Basic knowledge of HTML and web design.
- Knowledge of utility, municipal, state, or federal standards and regulations related to mapping and records.

Salary
$84,000 - $98,000 a year
National Grid will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future. You must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
