Job Purpose

To be responsible for the safety, reliability, security and integrity of the work site, through the daily supervision and organization of operations personnel in order to complete job tasks while complying with Company and Regulatory policies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee and support the external design teams in developing designs and complete construction packages for overhead and underground electric distribution and Sub-T systems.
  • Provide guidance, technical assistance, and problem-solving support to the external design teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Review and approve designs to ensure compliance with industry standards, company policies, and customer requirements.
  • Manage team resources, schedules, and priorities to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with team members to track progress and address challenges.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, or other stakeholders such as local inspection authorities, other public utilities, governmental agencies, public leaders, and regulatory agencies such as the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) as necessary.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth project workflows and resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide mentorship and training to external design teams to support their esign projects.
  • Collaborate with leadership to provide updates on project statuses, team performance, and resource needs.
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company quality standards.

 

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering preferred.
  • Alternatively, an Associate of Science degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, with 0–3 years of relevant experience, will also be considered.
  • Candidates without a degree with 5–8 years of experience in distribution design.
  • 5+ years of experience in electric utility distribution design or related fields.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of electric utility systems, including overhead and underground networks is preferred.
  • Ability to guide and support a technical team in achieving project objectives.
  • Proficiency in reviewing designs for accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and delegate effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and productive team environment.
  • Experience with print reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Salary: $95,000 - $112,000
