We are currently recruiting for a Project Support Officer to support the Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) project, linking Torness in East Lothian, Scotland with Hawthorn Pit in County Durham.

 

This role offers hybrid working with travel to sites across County Durham and Edinburgh required. We’re happy to discuss flexible working arrangements to help make this role work for you.

Job Purpose

 

 

EGL1 is a two-gigawatt high voltage direct current (HVDC) electrical connection and a multi-billion-pound joint venture between SP Energy Networks and National Grid Electricity Transmission.

 

As a Project Support Officer on the EGL1 project, you will play a key role in supporting delivery across the full project lifecycle. You will work closely with Project Managers and the PMO team, assisting with day-to-day project coordination, governance, reporting, and communications.

 

This critical infrastructure project will unlock Scotland’s renewable energy potential by transporting clean energy to where it’s needed most, helping to power millions of homes and businesses. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high-performing team while developing your own career in project management.

What You'll Do

 

  • Support PMO Leads with all aspects of project management office activities
  • Assist Project Managers with organising and coordinating meetings
  • Manage action logs and help prioritise team workloads
  • Prepare reporting packs for forums, meetings, and stakeholder presentations
  • Support document management and maintenance of the project SharePoint site
  • Manage internal project communications to ensure consistency and clarity
  • Process and track Change Requests through the appropriate governance channels
  • Act as Technical Secretary in meetings, capturing key actions and decisions
  • Prepare governance documentation ahead of project stage gate reviews
  • Contribute to project controls processes, reporting, and continuous improvement

 

About You

 

We’re looking for someone who is organised, proactive, and keen to build a career in project management within a major infrastructure environment.

 

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience working within a successful project delivery team
  • A strong desire to develop a career in project management
  • Exposure to major projects or knowledge of project controls and reporting principles.
  • An understanding of project lifecycle processes and stage gate governance
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to quickly build effective working relationships across teams
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach
  • An APM Project Management qualification (or similar), or willingness to work towards one

A competitive salary between £38,326 - £45,089 dependent on capability.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
