Job Purpose

National Grid is looking for a Lead Work Planner for Long Island who will oversee several Gas Construction programs. This position will support the achievement of completion of units of work, both mandated/compliance and non-mandated targets for the company, while remaining vigilant concerning dollars spent for the completion of those units to ensure budget adherence for both O&M and Capital.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for internal customers and stakeholders for programs of responsibility.
  • Build the resource-loaded work plan for construction on an annual basis based on company set targets and adherence to compliance goals with our regulators.
  • Generate and distribute several reports with different cadences to report to the business on the performance of KPIs and work plan target achievement. 
  • Collaborate with other business units (i.e. Field Operations, Resource Coordination) in building the resource-loaded work plan and ensure the completion of it on budget.  
  • Build accurate monthly forecast of units of work and dollars to be spent based on actual units completed, remaining dollars in the budget and units of work planned, identify any gaps or trends that pose a risk for completing the work plan on budget, and make timely recommendations to stakeholders and decision makers on how to mitigate the potential impacts.
  • Engage stakeholders via cadence meetings to report on progress of work plan and identify gaps and trends to make the recommendations to get back on track.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives as needed of the company's processes and performance across the business.
  • Build upon professional skills in the areas of leadership, communications, stakeholder engagement, driving culture change and performance, and technical skills (i.e. generating reports using Excel and relational databases), among others, in order to continually grow personal contribution to the business.
  • Respond to information requests of audit, finance, and other internal stakeholders in a timely fashion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree, or higher, in business, engineering, finance, accounting, or other related discipline or equivalent work experience and 5+ years of experience in Project/Program Management/Project Controls.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence strategic decision making.
  • Self-starter/motivated to lead the performance of programs of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates a consistent approach in dealing with stakeholders and taking personal responsibility for driving performance.
  • Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings.
  • Anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps, demonstrating initiative and resourcefulness and the ability to investigate the situation beyond routine questioning.
  • Demonstrates an energetic and enthusiastic manner and the ability to engage and maintain high levels of engagement of stakeholders during meetings, and throughout the year.
  • Understands the importance of procedures and standards of working and demonstrates the ability to give directions or demonstrations with clear reasons and rationales.
  • Possesses a general understanding of National Grid's Gas business from an operations and compliance perspective.

Salary

$128,00 - $150,000 a year
