Senior Regulatory Strategy Manager

As a Senior Regulatory Strategy Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing the future of the energy system — influencing policy, driving innovation, and helping deliver Net Zero. You’ll work on projects that truly matter, from building the next generation of offshore networks to reimagining how competition and regulation can unlock growth and value for customers.

 

To provide broad thought leadership across the Business and exert significant external influence with regulators and other key stakeholders in the development of key arguments to ensure the delivery of successful price control outcomes.

A competitive salary - dependent on capability.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 20% (with a maximum of 40%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. What you'll be doing

 

  • Shape future regulatory frameworks that accelerate investment and innovation.
  • Develop long-term regulatory strategies for the electricity networks of the 2030s.
  • Engage with Ofgem, NESO, government, and industry to influence key reforms.
  • Provide strategic insights and high-impact analysis for our Board and Executive teams.
  • Collaborate across National Grid’s Transmission, Distribution, and Ventures businesses to align on our shared energy future.

 

About you

 

You’re a strategic thinker with experience in regulation, policy, or economics — whether in energy, water, telecoms, or finance. You know how to navigate complexity, influence decision-makers, and translate technical ideas into compelling stories. You thrive in collaborative environments and want your work to make a tangible impact on people’s lives.

  • Qualifications Economics, Maths, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks in a complex, regulated sector - energy sector would be desirable. 
  • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
