The role

London/Hybrid

 

Global Director of Events, Sponsorship & Speakership is responsible for the strategic vision, planning, and execution of key company events, sponsorships and speakerships for National Grid driving engagement with stakeholders—including community, government, utilities, industry leaders, and employees. This role oversees a diverse portfolio of events: flagship conferences,  stand alone events, executive summits, external sponsorships, networking receptions, and more. The Director leads a global team, collaborates cross-functionally, and ensures events reflect the company’s brand, values, and strategic objectives.

What you'll be getting up to

 

 

Strategic Leadership & Planning

 

  • Implement the global events strategy aligned with company goals and brand positioning.
  • Collaborate with exec comms, business units, and functional heads to identify event opportunities and sponsorships that support strategic priorities.
  • Oversee the internal speakers’ bureau including training and the global events calendar
  • Conduct regular reviews of event performance, adapting strategy to market trends and business needs.

 

Global Event Management & Logistics

 

  • Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of large-scale, high-profile events across multiple geographies.
  • Manage the team that oversees all aspects of event logistics: venue selection, vendor management, attendee registration, travel, accommodation, AV/IT, and onsite operations.
  • Develop and manage event budgets, timelines, RACIs, and work plans to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Negotiate contracts 

About you

 

 

 

  • Substantial experience in global event planning and management, ideally within the energy, technology, or innovation sectors.
  • Proven track record leading large-scale, international events with senior executives and diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience of managing cross-regional teams and budgets.
  • Strategic thinker with exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Executive presence, ability to understand and address needs of C-suite level seamlessly.
  • Proficiency with event management software and registration plat forms.

Salary between £77.000 p.a. and £96,000 p.a. depending on experience. 

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 20% (with a maximum of 40%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
