Job Purpose
The Warehouse Supervisor at Investment Recovery provides recycling industry and operational leadership for National Grid’s Investment Recovery Department. The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and recycling equipment related to the recovery activities for surplus and obsolete inventory assets. This role requires safe, effective, and efficient accomplishment of job tasks in line with departmental and National Grid policies and procedures. This role combines general warehouse supervision with specific recycling equipment operating costs and maintenance oversight and inventory management responsibilities. Minimal travel may be required.
Key Accountabilities
- Asset Management and Recovery: Supervise the receiving, identification, storage, tracking, and disposition of distressed or surplus assets. This involves managing inventory specific to an asset recovery process to ensure maximum recovery and sustainable solutions are met which is distinct from a new inventory stream.
- Inventory Control: Ensure accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and physical inventories, reconciling discrepancies and implementing process improvements to prevent future errors. Utilize SAP and Epiq software to track inventory movement.
- Process Efficiency and Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices for the investment recovery process, ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations (OSHA), and any relevant environmental or recycling laws. Contribute to the protection of the public and organizational personnel by ensuring all materials, standards and procedures are in line with National Grid safety policies and processes.
- Team Leadership and Supervision: Plan, assign, and direct work for warehouse (10 union employees). Responsibilities include training new employees, appraising performance, addressing complaints, resolving problems, and fostering a safe, positive, and productive work environment. Lead discussions with the workforce to promote safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Monitor performance of allocated staff including issues relating to sickness, discipline, and poor standards of work and operational workload to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and effectively, with relevant policies and processes.
- Logistics and Operations Supervision: Oversee incoming and outgoing shipments of assets for sale or disposal. This includes required documentation, liaising with transportation partners, and collaborating with other departments (e.g., procurement, warehouse, finance) to ensure seamless operations. Proactively work with vendors for purchasing and timely delivery of recycling equipment parts.
- Reporting and Analysis: Maintain and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to asset recovery operations and equipment, interpret data to identify areas for improvement, and generate reports for management on inventory status, recycling equipment productivity, and related budget.
- Equipment Operation: Oversee warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, ensuring staff are properly trained and safety protocols are followed.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of proven work experience as a warehouse supervisor or in a related inventory/asset management, supply chain, recycling industry role required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with SAP, RF scanners, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel for data analysis and reporting).
- Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities to identify and resolve operational challenges promptly.
- Knowledge of project management methods with experience leading projects and/or working within groups to complete projects.
- Knowledge and experience in labor relations and effective labor contract administration/optimization (preferred)
- Knowledge and experience in storm restoration and emergency management (preferred).
- Experience of tools, materials, equipment maintenance and/or general knowledge of the gas and/or electric utility industry (preferred).
More Information
Salary: $77,000.00 - $90,000.00 USD annually
