Mechanical Fitter - Refurbishment
We’re looking for a passionate Mechanical Fitter – Refurbishment to join our Asset Operation Team! In this role, you are responsible for the refurbishment and maintenance of National Grid switchgear to support the delivery of refurbishment programs. You participate in all refurbishment activities at the refurbishment centres, ensuring that equipment is maintained and manufactured to the highest standards. Additionally, you will act as the Person in Charge of the workshop, ensuring that the highest safety and quality standards are consistently maintained.
We are looking for someone ideally based 30 minutes from Leicester or Doncaster.
What You'll Do
- Refurbish NG switchgear; included but not limited to – 400/275kV isolators, Earths, SF6 circuit breakers.
- Ensure refurbishment delivery standards are applied, maintained and continuous improvement methodologies are adopted.
- Participate in all corporate audit reviews and external audits to maintain accreditations and continued operation of all activities.
- Assist in maintaining the Refurbishment centres Quality systems, quality manual in compliance with ISO9001.
- Participate in refurbishment R&D activities including the reverse engineering of materials and components.
- Liaise with wider refurbishment team and Engineering and Asset Management on refurbishment development, SOPs and work specifications.
- Provide cover for during periods of leave or absence for the Refurbishment Centres Production Engineers.
What You'll Have
- C & G L3 or equivalent in an engineering discipline (preferably electronic or electrical).
- Full driving license.
- Working knowledge of ISO9001 and quality management systems
- Experience of delivering performance improvement in an operation and maintenance related discipline.
