Job Purpose

  • This job position is posted for Worcester, MA, but can be based at any MA location. Join a team that is responsible for supporting and driving growth in nationally recognized energy efficiency and decarbonization programs and other emerging areas of focus. National Grid's Technical Sales and Support (TSS) team is looking for an Energy Engineer who will contribute their technical and analytical skills to help design and oversee National Grid’s Commercial and Industrial energy management portfolio. The engineer will use their knowledge of energy engineering and project management to recommend and review energy-saving opportunities for C&I customers. The role will also be responsible for working closely with other parts of the team to evaluate our program’s technical performances, ensuring we quantify accurate program results for our customers. TSS is a highly motivated and active team that works closely with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to aid customers in making their homes and businesses more efficient and reducing their impact on climate change.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide technical support on energy efficiency and decarbonization matters to the company’s program managers, technical support team, sales, and the energy product teams to facilitate communications, integrate work, and ensure the successful delivery of energy efficiency and electrification measures for National Grid’s customers.
  • Assess an organization's current carbon footprint, identify areas for improvement, and analyze potential decarbonization pathways.
  • Create and implement strategies to reduce carbon emissions, including improving energy efficiency and exploring areas of electrification.
  • Manage multiple projects, coordinate teams, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Involves working with various teams (engineering, operations, sales) to implement customer projects and initiatives. Tracking progress against goals, collecting data, and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate impact.
  • Keeping up-to-date on the latest technologies, market trends, and policy developments related to decarbonization.
  • Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive collaboration and support.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources assigned to develop energy and decarbonization projects to ensure timely progression of deliverables and technical reviews that comply with program standards and expectations.
  • Provide research-driven insights and analysis to improve targeting and design of customer offerings.

Qualifications

  • An engineering bachelor’s degree and three or more years of energy efficiency professional experience is required. For this role, National Grid seeks candidates with a bachelor's degree(s) and professional experience in energy, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
  • Certified Energy Manager certification is preferred
  • Professional experience in gross energy efficiency calculations, program planning, design, implementation, and/or local and national energy policy is beneficial.
  • Experience with procuring and managing vendors is helpful.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) are needed in this role.
  • Experience with heat pumps and electrification of buildings is preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, an analytical approach, the ability to perform presentations, and attention to detail are important for success.
  • Candidates must be able to adapt quickly to taking on new projects and working with a wide range of products and services, as well as interacting with various stakeholders.

Salary: $105,000 - $124,000
