Job Purpose
Job Purpose This position is responsible for leading all activities for energy commodity Contracts that support National Grid’s natural gas and power supply activities, including initiation, negotiation, approval, entering the system, and maintenance. This position is also responsible for communication with counterparties and Legal as well as requesting and collecting Sales Tax Exempt forms. This position reports to the Manager Qualitative Risk and Compliance.
Key Accountabilities
- Leads negotiation of Financial and Physical master agreements for several National Grid entities, including but not limited to: traditional 2002 ISDA Master Agreements, EEI Master Power Purchase and Sale Agreements, Master Certificate Purchase Agreements, NAESB Base Contracts, Guarantees, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Long Form Confirmations, and Broker Agreements.
- Supports legal, credit and commercial teams in handling transactional matters including initial contract review and comments including redlining, editing, formatting and proofreading documents through document execution, filing, and post-execution administrative obligations.
- Coordinate with in-house and outside counsel to ensure contract terms comply with Company policies, legal and regulatory requirements, and commercial strategy.
- Responsible for entering and maintaining all counterparty and contract information in ETRM (Allegro).
- Maintain the corporate library of contract templates and manage updates as needed.
- Manage internal Know Your Customer (KYC) processes and responses to third party requirements.
- Reviews and executes transaction confirmations.
- Responsible for preparation, review and filing of contracts with NY PSC which includes working with National Grid legal department to coordinate redaction of confidential information.
- Works closely with traders and marketers to ensure their contract needs are being met.
- Works closely with the settlements group to ensure reconciliation needs are being met.
- Ensuring National Grid is in compliance with regulations such as Dodd Frank and Sarbanes-Oxley control structure.
- Manages the collection of sales tax exemption forms from trading partners.
- Liaises with SAP/Master Data to ensure counterparty information is entered into in a timely fashion.
- Act as back-up for daily indices reporting and the trade confirmation process.
- Negotiating and maintaining approximately 2,200 contracts with approximately 1000 counterparties for 6 National Grid entities.
Knowledge & Experience Required
- Expert knowledge of industry standard commodity contracts such as NAESB, ISDA, Master Power Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements
- Extensive knowledge of energy commodity industry.
- Minimum 5 years contract negotiation experience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business and related majors. Experience working with legal department is a plus
- Allegro knowledge is a strong plus
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and negotiation skills since there is extensive interaction with various departments within National Grid and potential counterparties.
- Excellent organizational skills and analytical skills.

Annual Salary:
$110,000-$129,000
