National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK.

As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we are able to meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.

 

We are currently recruiting for an Operations and Maintenance Planner onsite at our IFA2 interconnectors site in Fareham. As an Operations and Maintenance Planner you will work closely with the maintenance team on site with the fundamental responsibility of turning maintenance workstacks into delivery strategy and assigning maintenance tasks through Maximo (Asset Management System).

 

You will also be accountable for optimisation, prioritisation, resourcing and scheduling of the Operational plan within current year timescales therefore helping to optimise campaign time on sites bundling work (outage & non outage) to ensure the most effective use of time for Operational Staff and area targets are met.

 

This role is based on site at IFA2 in Fareham, please note you must have a full UK driving licence and be able to drive for this position.

 

What you'll do

 

  • To support the production of relevant Maintenance and Inspection Management KPIs, ensuring accurate visibility of performance
  • Manage a rolling and dynamic plan for all operational and capital works at a specific interconnector, focusing on a rolling Operational 1-year timescale.
  • Working closely with the Site Senior Engineers/Project Leaders, to ensure correct resource allocation for work and outage delivery.
  • Accountable for leading on all planning changes within 1 year rolling timescales, liaising with dedicated Interconnector leadership team.
  • Arrange/coordinate all external contractors required for routine activities (e.g. environmental contractors, site statutory inspections, warranty works/defects)
  • Resolve escalated planning deliverability risks & escalation of unresolved planning issues
  • Managing work not delivered by re-prioritising back into the plan within current year, limiting work not done by year end.
  • Assessment of Operations – Work not done due to operational issues. Instruct site asset and engineering team to conduct risk assessment for work not completed/outside maintenance policy.
  • Apply standardisation of outage and work delivery in line with Maximo /maintenance documents
  • Liaising with site Engineers to determine resource and equipment requirements for unplanned maintenance to allow efficient scheduling.
  • Scheduling of Planned and Unplanned Work Orders, ensuring the correct skilled and competent resources are assigned to each task.
  • Work collaboratively with Asset team to amend/improve Work Orders and data quality within Maximo.
  • Ensure our work management system is kept up to date and follow up with any outstanding work orders.
  • To effectively manage deferred work orders in line with NGV maintenance policies.
  • Ensure that asset defects are logged and tracked.
  • Prioritisation of work utilising all available information available i.e. previous oil samples results, known condition of equipment etc
  • Ownership of team planning hub onsite keeping up to date the plan (print out) and work lists following planning meeting.

 

 

What you'll need

 

  • Knowledge of the Planning Processes and Systems e.g. Maximo, Gantt charts (excel), MS project
  • A good understanding of Asset Maintenance policy and application, and resource requirements, being able to formulate robust work plans and to appropriate debate/challenge conflicting views.
  • Basic Knowledge of National Grid Ventures Interconnector Safety Rules, Interconnector Safety Instructions and Working Procedures
  • Demonstrated ability in managing and prioritising conflicts in real time.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex issues and their resolution and multitask and prioritise.
  • Ability to lead meetings to discuss the plan
  • Management of resource plans and other constraints in an operational environment
  • Proven flexibility to adapt positively to change.
  • Some form of scheduling and planning experience.

A competitive salary between £47,442 - £56,173 per annum– dependent on capability.
