HVDC Technician

We're looking for a skilled HVDC Substation Technician to join our IFA2 Operations team. This is a unique opportunity to work on critical infrastructure that supports millions of people and businesses while helping to deliver a more sustainable energy future.
The role is based onsite at IFA2 in Fareham, please note you must live within an hours commutable distance from site to be considered for the role with a full UK driving licence.
The role also attracts a company van and an annual market supplement of £3000.
What you'll do
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, inspections and fault-finding activities across HV and LV plant and equipment.
- Support installation, refurbishment and replacement projects to ensure assets remain safe, reliable and available.
- Conduct condition monitoring activities, including electrical testing, thermographic inspections and oil sampling.
- Work safely under National Grid Ventures' safety rules and procedures, including undertaking responsibilities as a Competent Person or working towards authorisation.
- Manage relationships with contractors and third-party service providers on site.
- Support operational activities across the wider Interconnectors portfolio when required.
- Participate in the site call-out rota.
- Help to drive continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team.
What you'll need
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 qualification in Engineering (or equivalent recognised apprenticeship).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience working on electrical and/or mechanical systems within an operational or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
- NVQ Level 4 qualification in Engineering (or equivalent).
- IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Competent Person authorisation or working towards authorisation.
- Experience of asset management systems such as Ellipse, Maximo, Ultimo or IFS.
- Experience working with operational technology, protection, control or monitoring systems

A competitive salary between £43,315- £47,137 per annum – dependent on capability.
