Accounts Receivable Finance Assistant

We are looking for 1x Part-Time (16 hours Tuesday and Thursday) Finance Assistants to support the Payments Received Team in our AR function. As part of the Accounts Receivable team, you will play a key role in delivering a professional and efficient service to both internal and external customers of National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED).
This role is based out of our Plymouth office, and we’d hope to see you in the office full-time to complete your training. Thereafter, we are happy to accommodate hybrid working with circa 1 days in the office per week. We’re also happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
Payments (Payments Received)
- Process a high volume of payments (BACS, credit/debit cards, cheques, direct debits).
- Process refunds for duplicate payments, cancelled work, errors, etc.
- Match and allocate debits/credits accurately and promptly.
- Investigate and resolve daily suspense items and highlight any fraudulent activity.
- Upload files and manage data interfaces between NGED systems, resolving any errors.
- Understand and reconcile debtor ledger entries on a daily and month end basis.
- Prioritise workload to meet daily and monthly targets in a high volume environment.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external customers to resolve queries and maintain service excellence.
What You'll Have
- Proven experience in a high volume finance or accounts receivable environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to build professional relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Confident, self motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organisational ability with a track record of prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience of finance systems is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of accounts receivable processes and awareness of relevant HMRC or statutory regulations is desirable.
- Collaborative mindset – teamwork is essential to achieve shared goals and maintain service excellence.

What You'll Get
Salary of £35,283. This is prorated based on the 16 hours a week.
As well as your base salary you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
