LGV2 Driver

We’re looking for a passionate LGV2 Driver to join our Asset Operations team! The role involves providing safe and efficient operation of the OMU Lorry Loader Fleet, delivering and collecting OMU assets such as top-up tanks, diverter kits, selector kits, dry-air machines, and other equipment. The individual is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment at the location, effectively delivering allocated projects, and complying with all site requirements. Additionally, they monitor environmental performance and requirements to ensure assurance and compliance.

 

This role is based out of our Dartford office with travel to other substations.

What You'll Do

  • Delivering and collecting OMU equipment and assets, ensuring equipment is fit for purpose prior to delivery and at point of collection.
  • Driving of the Lorry Loader vehicle and operation of the crane to load and unload equipment and assets from the vehicle bed to the designated point at the substation.
  • Provide the customer interface for Lorry Loader work at the substation.
  • Carrying out transformer oil top ups using a range of vehicles, inc, towable and road tanker solutions.
  • Provide cover and complete other duties at the OMU facilities as required including tanker deliveries and collections, tank farm operation, mobile tank preparation and maintenance, and bushing oil preparation.
  • Complete periodic maintenance on OMU equipment such as replacing filter, strainers and coellessors.
  • Provide assistance to Mobile Technicians and Operators to undertake repairs such as pump replacements.
  • Complete housekeeping and site maintenance, site routines and inspections as required.
  • Provide assistance with mobile support, towing equipment and flood defences deployment.
  • Carry out inspections, testing and ordering to ensure all equipment and vehicles are available for use.

What You'll Have

  • Full driving licence.
  • HGV Class 2.
  • Fork Lift Truck licence to 5t.
  • Technical knowledge of Lorry Loader plant and equipment for the loading and unloading of equipment and assets with a vehicle mounted crane.
  • Trained and Competent in accordance with NG and External Body Policies and Procedures for Lorry Loading / Lifting.
  • Holding vehicle licencing and track recording of operating under HGV Class 2 and carriage of hazardous fluids.
  • Subject matter expert in lifting and loading techniques associated with OMU plant and operating of equipment within a substation environment.
  • Knowledge of NG Safety Rules, National Safety Instructions and Working Procedures.
  • Sound understanding of National Grid’s operational policies, procedures and processes.
  • Possess an understanding of the company’s performance management process, including personal development.
  • Practical experience of substations work procedures and technical knowledge relating to the safety aspects of substation plant and equipment.
