Role overview

We’re looking for a skilled Maintenance & Inspection Operative to support the inspection, servicing, and management of Overhead Line (OHL) plant and lifting equipment across key UK infrastructure projects. Based across Northfleet, Stocking Pelham, and Bramford, this is a dynamic, field-based role that requires flexibility to travel nationwide, including occasional overnight stays, supporting OHL teams wherever they’re needed. Commercial vehicle supplied.

Day-to-day, you’ll carry out workshop duties such as basic maintenance, cleaning, and preparing equipment for operational use, while using IT systems and innovative approaches to resolve issues and escalate where appropriate.

You’ll play a key role in supporting major capital works, managing lifting tackle and PPE, coordinating statutory testing, and ensuring all tools and calibration equipment meet required standards, including liaising with 3rd Party contractors. You’ll also contribute to emergency response readiness, ensuring equipment is available and deployed effectively when it matters most.

In this hands-on position, you’ll take ownership of maintaining and inspecting specialist equipment in line with LOLER and PUWER regulations, ensuring all assets are safe, compliant, and operational. You’ll manage your own workload, maintain accurate inspection and service records, and coordinate the movement, storage, and replacement of equipment across multiple locations.

Requirements:

  • A minimum recognised engineering apprenticeship, or NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in the maintenance, servicing, and inspection of lifting equipment and plant.
  • Working knowledge of inspection processes and equipment compliance.
  • Comfortable using IT systems to manage records and equipment tracking.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of LOLER and PUWER regulations.
  • IOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.
  • LEEA Foundation and/or Lifting Equipment General certification (or equivalent).

If you’re looking for a role where your experience is valued and you can make a tangible difference across major projects, we’d love to hear from you.
