Job Purpose
As a Senior Safety Specialist for Safety Assurance, you will work to improve the overall safety culture and ensure compliance by conducting second level assurance of our policies and risk controls. You will work closely with operations stakeholders and develop positive, professional relationships with all levels of management, represented employees, and contractors during all phases of operation. This is a field position encompassing worksites throughout the assigned area and will require regular travel to work sites across New York. This position supports our electric and gas business.
Key Accountabilities
- Engage crews during field visits by providing real-time coaching and constructive feedback to reinforce safety expectations and program requirements.
- Develop annual and quarterly compliance monitoring plans, identify and document gaps and unsafe behaviors, help develop remediation plan, then prepare and present findings to stakeholders at all levels of leadership.
- Serve as the central risk control tester and subject matter expert for key stakeholders supporting gas and electric operations across New York, including the Albany, Central and Northern New York, and Buffalo areas.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Risk Management.
- Have a thorough knowledge of all related OSHA regulations, DOT regulations, applicable ANSI standards, RMI guidelines.
- At least 6 years of progressive experience in a role where managing safety/health programs was 90% of job responsibility/accountability or 6 years of experience in risk management and auditing in insurance, regulated, or accredited environments, with a strong understanding of compliance and control frameworks.
- CSP, ASP, GSP, IH Certification or RIMS, CRM, ARM, CIA; at least one in one area is required.
- Public speaking, training, and presentation skills.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills required.
- Fast and proficient decision-making abilities.
- Strong skills with organization, communication, and attention to detail.
- Must be self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to set and follow a daily/weekly schedule.
- Computer proficiency and ability to use various software apps is essential (ex: Teams, Archer, Microsoft Office apps, Apple products, Outlook, SAP).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel to field locations across New York (day travel, 2-4 hours/day, 60-70%) using company vehicle.

Salary: $97,000.00 - $113,000.00 USD
