About the Position:

We are presently seeking Mechanic Helper for an opening in Buffalo, NY. In addition to a starting wage of $33.56 per hour, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, tuition assistance and more.

 

Our mission in Underground Electric Field Operations is to provide electric service safely and efficiently to all National Grid electric customers.  The Underground Electric department is responsible for installing and maintaining National Grids Underground Electric Assets. Under direct supervision, to assist mechanics of higher grade, and to perform the simpler types of manual work.

 

As your proficiency increases and your training continues, you will have the opportunity to be promoted/ progressed through the Mechanic series, ultimately reaching the C level (Helper→A→B→C)

 

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be mechanically inclined and capable of performing strenuous work.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
  • Must pass physical abilities evaluation.
  • Must pass validated aptitude test.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain a CDL A within 6 months, holding a CDL A currently is preferred

 

 

Note: After six months of satisfactory performance as a Mechanic Helper, the individual will progress to Mechanic A.

Salary:

  • $33.56/Hr

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union.  Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
