Job Purpose

The Forestry manager will support the department director and provide leadership and clear direction for the forestry team that ensures the delivery and documentation of work within the agreed timelines, cost schedules, quality and safety standards; and within a risk profile that fully supports operating to the highest Safety, Health and Environmental standards to ensure company goals are met.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide leadership, technical expertise, contract interpretation and direction to assigned forestry supervisors and contractor personnel to ensure that high standards of safety, security and environmental compliance are developed and consistently followed daily when conducting vegetation management on the system.

• Work closely with contractors, supervisors and others to develop a work plan that allows for timely and efficient completion of maintenance work plans as well as the needs of the capital work portfolio while balancing customer and community requests.

• Take a proactive role interfacing with engineering, operations, contract management, contract personnel, procurement and others interested groups to fully understand/realize vegetation management program needs and ensure that promised commitments are delivered on time and within budget.

• Participate in reliability, budget, procurement, and cadence conference calls/meetings to report on the status of ongoing and future work plans.

• Interface with municipalities and other external stakeholders to further vegetation management program goals while controlling program costs

• Assure that assigned field personnel are properly directed, trained, and evaluated within company guidelines and procedures to ensure National Grid’s standards, and environmental and safety regulations are consistently followed.

• Support supervisors to promote and sustain interdepartmental relations strategy, to support improved relationships, enhance operational flexibility, improve efficiencies and support business initiatives.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred OR 7 to 10 years of electric utility vegetation management experience required. Including 3 to 5 years of utility vegetation management experience.

• Strong knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, local, company Safety and Environmental rules and regulations preferred

• Ability to read and explain circuit maps, construction prints, specifications, & safety standards preferred.

• Thorough understanding of utility vegetation management work practices, work methods and safety standards preferred.

• Understanding of electric system design and operation as it relates to crew safety and system reliability preferred.

• Strong PC and business applications knowledge to facilitate full leveraging of technology solutions in the utility vegetation work environment preferred.

Salary:
$131,000 - $163,000 per year
