Job Purpose

The Asset Manager will lead a team of highly skilled engineering professionals, ensuring that workloads are delivered on time and to a high standard of quality by recruiting, hiring, and developing engineering talent while fostering industry-wide subject matter expertise and nurturing future leadership.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and manage the implementation of short- and long-term asset management policies, strategies, initiatives, and work plans to ensure alignment with National Grid’s Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).
  • Provide strategic oversite and though leadership of the Asset Management Maturity Initiative (AMMI).
  • Create and maintain a five-year and fifteen-year Asset Management Plan while managing risks to stakeholders, customers, and the environment. Drive the maturity of the portfolio by timely progression of projects through the Network Development Process.
  • Deliver and manage assets through lifecycle optimization of asset families, focusing on availability, reliability, health, safety, and environmental performance.
  • Foster a culture that sets clear objectives and integrates asset management best practices into our business operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
  • Manage the alignment between long-term forecasting, planning, development, design, and management of customer connections, system reliability, and asset replacement programs and plans.
  • Provide support to various areas of National Grid, including Electric Operations, Transmission/Regional Control Centers, Substation Engineering and Distribution Planning & Asset Management.
  • Ensure the development and effective implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Represent the company in industry and regulatory working groups as appropriate, ensuring focus on and attainment of business goals and objectives.
  • Act as the lead for transmission asset management and planning in key regulatory interactions and requirements, such as rate cases, management audits, capital investment planning, and reporting on other regulatory matters as needed.

 

 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school preferred. 
  • At least 5 years of progressive engineering/managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry practice, standards and legislation.
  • Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation.
  • Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively in a project management team environment.
  • Adapts approach based on the audience's needs and tailor’s messages accordingly.
  • Actively builds and maintains a network of relationships beyond normal business contacts.
  • Takes personal responsibility for promptly correcting problems and communicates expectations to monitor the delivery of engineering projects.
  • Works autonomously and proactively implements changes to enhance performance, efficiency, and effectiveness of processes, while challenging existing engineering procedures and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Maintains positive expectations for team members and shows regard for them.
  • Receptive to change and willing to adjust ideas or opinions based on new information or contrary evidence.

Salary: $156,000 - $183,000

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
