Our Gridtern Program provides current college students the ability to gain practical experience within the energy industry. Your summer will begin on Monday, June 15, 2026, and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking opportunities, community involvement, and most importantly, have fun!

Available Roles
Business Services Plant Accounting (Brooklyn, NY)
Our Business Services Plant Accounting team is responsible for the accurate and timely accounting of our organization’s Property, Plant, and Equipment (PP&E), supporting over $30 billion in net fixed assets across all U.S. operating companies. This team ensures compliance with regulatory and internal accounting standards, manages asset capitalization and retirement processes, and provides essential financial insights for capital investment decisions. They also maintain the integrity of the company’s financial reporting and asset management, helping National Grid deliver safe, affordable, and sustainable energy to customers daily.
As a Gridtern, you will primarily work within the Plant Accounting & Reconciliations group, contributing to process improvement initiatives that enhance data accuracy and streamline reporting tools. Your efforts will directly support the team in maintaining accurate asset records and providing financial insights that inform key business decisions.

FERC Revenue Requirements (Brooklyn, NY)
Our Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Revenue Requirements (FERC RR) team is responsible for calculating transmission revenue requirements and rates, as well as preparing related FERC filings for National Grid operating companies under FERC jurisdiction. This team manages monthly transmission service billings and provides regulatory support for transmission projects, working in alignment with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), which oversees the wholesale operations of National Grid companies.
As a Gridtern, you will support monthly billing activities for Hydro companies that manage the 2000 MW High-Voltage Direct Current interconnection facilities between New England and Quebec, Canada. You’ll prepare and provide monthly support charge estimates and reserves to the Accounting team during financial close and assist with updating the Transmission Handbook to reflect current tariffs and rate recovery processes for National Grid Transmission Rates. In addition, you will help with the annual true-up billing of interconnection customers by gathering billing details, calculating true-up amounts, and preparing support documentation. This role will allow you to build financial and analytical skills while gaining exposure to key processes that support National Grid’s transmission operations.

Corporate Affairs - National Grid Partners (NGP) (Brooklyn, NY)
Our Corporate Affairs team within National Grid Partners manages all aspects of communications, including public relations, social media, blogs, case studies, events, and marketing materials. This team acts as a link between National Grid and our startups and innovation programs. Additionally, they spearhead company-wide innovation initiatives and collaborate with the NextGrid Alliance, a network of senior innovation executives from over 120 global utilities. Simultaneously, they review and invest in emerging technology companies to accelerate the future of energy and assess new technologies to support the growth of our organization.
As a Gridtern, you will assist in producing portfolio company case studies and blogs, help maintain our website, manage the content calendar, and support our content strategy within our internal Viva Engage community. You will also aid in event planning and collaborate on various projects with Directors and the Vice President of Marketing. NYC Corporate Affairs (Brooklyn, NY)
Our New York City Corporate Affairs team serves as the bridge between National Grid and the communities that we serve. This team manages strategic relationships with customers, community leaders, and elected officials to support business goals and enhance our public presence. Their work includes customer advocacy, civic engagement, stakeholder relations, and issue resolution, all aimed at delivering a positive impact across New York City. The team also plays a key role in supporting the transition to a clean, fair, and affordable energy future by advocating for customer needs, facilitating community partnerships, and engaging with government leaders.
As a Gridtern, you will gain exposure to energy initiatives, civic partnerships, and government relations. You’ll support the delivery of programs and communications that enhance customer satisfaction, community engagement, and stakeholder collaboration. In addition, you will assist with event logistics, help maintain internal tracking systems, and support compliance-related documentation. This opportunity will also allow you to contribute to projects focused on energy efficiency, economic development, and customer advocacy, while building valuable experience in community and stakeholder relations.

Resource Coordination (Brooklyn, NY)
Our Resource Coordination team, part of the Resource Management organization, is essential in executing our annual CapEx and OpEx work plans. This team focuses on scheduling the right work at the right time with the appropriate field resources. By collaborating closely with Engineering and Operations, they prioritize, schedule, and track the work that ensures our system operates smoothly.
As a Gridtern, you will support projects focused on data management, enhancing scorecards, building work packages, and exploring automation opportunities. Your contributions will improve how the team tracks program health, performance, and progress through streamlined reporting and real-time updates. You will also assist in enhancing team hub and SharePoint resources and have the unique opportunity to join site visits to observe the field work you helped schedule and coordinate. This role offers a dynamic, collaborative environment that will sharpen your technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Social Impact & Community Engagement, Group Corporate Affairs (Brooklyn, NY)
Our Social Impact & Community Engagement (SICE) Operations team is a global team within Social Impact and Community Engagement that ensures a consistent approach to measuring and tracking activities in support of our Responsible Business Charter (RBC) goals. This team develops, manages, and maintains systems such as platforms and portals for employee volunteering, matching gifts, charitable contributions, grant-making, and more. In addition, they track colleague participation on nonprofit boards, committees, and associations, while setting the strategy for future participation across the company.
As a Gridtern, you will pull data from our volunteer platform to analyze and report volunteer hours, event activities, and engagement. Since this data is needed by various business units, you will sort information by region, state, country, department, and team, ensuring that it is displayed in a clear and digestible format – making data visualization an important skill. In this role, you will also be supporting our Grants team by pulling and analyzing similar reports for various business unit stakeholders. In addition, there will be special projects throughout, including helping to build our Social Impact & Community Engagement Operations presentation materials, contributing to our intranet presence, and enhancing our greater SharePoint site. As this is a new team, this role also offers a great opportunity to bring fresh ideas and innovative solutions that will help shape the way we work moving forward.

Strategy & Transformation (Brooklyn, NY)
Our Strategy and Transformation team is responsible for leading the development of the New York electric strategy and associated transformational initiatives, with a specific focus on distributed systems, building electrification, electric transportation, and digital innovation.
As a Gridtern, you will conduct a specific project with clear outcomes, providing you with a valuable learning experience within a department that has significant oversight of the business and works on impactful topics. The specific scope of work (SOW) for your project will be determined several months prior to the start of the internship. This opportunity will allow you to engage with critical initiatives shaping the future of the electric sector.
What You’ll Need
- Availability to start on the program start date, June 15, 2026, and work full-time (40 hours a week) for the duration of the summer
- Must be registered as a full-time student and continue your education full-time through the Fall 2026 semester
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree
- Majoring in Business Administration, Economics, Data Analytics, Urban Studies, Sociology, Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Public Affairs, Computer Science, English, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or related majors.
- Have accumulated 18 or more credits and be at least 18 years of age
- Possess work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (including CPT & OPT)
- Some Gridtern positions will require a valid US Driver’s license with a safe driving history that complies with National Grid’s Safe Driver policy. This qualification will be specified in the department specific Gridtern role(s) descriptions at point of interview

Salary Range
$22.00-$28.00 an hour
Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year. Our Gridtern Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for Gridterns; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements.
Please note that as a Gridtern, you must reside within our existing footprint, which includes Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont. You must also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to your assigned primary office.
