Job Purpose

 

As an Environmental Engineer/Scientist you will be responsible for direct project oversight and management of projects for the Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) department to maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental requirements.

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Promote and implement procedural best practices to ensure all project activities are performed in a safe, efficient and effective manner.
  • Manage SIR projects from investigation through remedy implementation.   
  • Routinely interface with regulators at the local, state, and federal level.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to other National Grid departments (i.e. Community, Legal, Real Estate, Electric Operations, Gas Operations).
  • Manage a team of environmental contractors and consultants and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Monitor and control a wide range of projects with a major emphasis on financial management and progress forecasting to ensure efficient and cost-effective implementation.
  • Must have a high degree of organizational and communication skills.
  • Ensure projects comply with internal and external safety standards, policies and processes and comply with applicable environmental laws, regulations and approved work plans.
  • Responsible for project-specific financial reporting to track budget spend and ensure effective financial management.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific disciplines (Geology, Environmental Science, etc.) or Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other related disciplines.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER and current 8-hour HAZWOPER certification. 
  • 5 plus years of Program/Project Management experience.
  • Professional certification or license (i.e., PMP, PE, LEP, CHMM, PG).
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to administer complex projects.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy (e.g., must not have more than one traffic violation in the last year and/or more than one motor vehicle accident within the past three years.) required.

Salary: $111,000.00 - $130,000.00 USD
