Security Officer III
Job Purpose
National Grid is seeking a highly competent Security Officer to join our team to monitor our premises and protect our valued staff. As a Security Officer, you will need a sharp eye with quick reaction time in the detection of any suspicious or criminal behavior, and prevention of theft or vandalism.
Shift: 3 days on / 3 days off, 5am-5pm and 5pm-5am
Key Accountabilities
- Secure our premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points.
- Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior
- Guard access points, permitting or refusing entry, restraining trespassers, and direct heavy traffic during start and end of business hours
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.
Qualifications
- Previous law enforcement experience 15+ years (municipal, state or federal)
- Concealed gun permit for NYC with the ability to carry a firearm
- Able to stand, walk, climb ladders or steps during an 8-hour shift or irregular shift
- Able to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
- Valid US driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
- Must pass post-offer hearing and vision assessment
- Will be required to take Fire Brigade training to obtain/maintain LNG certifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Pay Rate: $36.49 per hour

As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
