The Group Sustainability Team drives sustainability through National Grid, from supporting and setting the strategic direction, through influencing the external environment to helping to embed it across the business. To ensure success we partner with all Business Units and Functions, providing expertise and coaching as they develop commercial and credible sustainability plans. We also provide transparency on delivery to ensure we meet our targets.
About the Role
This role is as part of the Group Sustainability Team, supporting and managing performance toward achieving National Grid’s sustainability goals as set out in the Responsible Business Charter (RBC). The role will sit on the centralized team including team members across the UK and US but will be located in NY and report to the US Director of Environmental Sustainability. This is a collaborative role and this person will work closely with embedded Sustainability teams in the business units, as well as partners in other functions.
What You'll Do
This role will manage the governance process that guides approval of strategic direction for sustainability priorities. This includes working directly with the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) to ensure planning of required governance steps, maintaining the schedule of committee meetings, engaging with contacts on the group executive committee and board to finalize materials. In addition, this role will provide critical research, benchmarking, and communications insights to inform strategic decision making regarding future iterations of the RBC, including but not limited to nature and climate actions. This person will also focus on communicating our sustainability narrative through the annual report, company website and internal and external engagement.

- Strong data management and analytical capability, highly numerate with an attention to detail
- Pro-active mindset, curious self-starter
- Flexible and adapts well to change
- 2-5 years professional experience, experience in a corporate sustainability function or equivalent is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A concentration or major in sustainability, environmental science, communications, business, or related field or equivalent experience is a plus
- Experience in delivering ESG frameworks and/or reporting, with an appreciation of the wider ESG environment, experience with GHG Protocol and industry-standard GHG reporting forums is a plus
- Knowledge of the energy industry and the energy sector’s contribution to mitigating climate change.

Annual Salary
$106,000-$124,000
