National Grid Ventures is hiring a Manager – AI Product & Digital Energy Product Management. This hybrid position can sit in either our Boston, MA, Waltham, MA, or Brooklyn, NY office.

Job Purpose

Lead the development and deployment of AI-driven products and digital solutions to support NGV’s energy infrastructure portfolio, with a focus on accelerating growth areas in transmission and generation build-out to support unprecedented nation-wide electricity demand including large loads. This role combines product management, domain expertise, and stakeholder engagement to drive innovation across National Grid Ventures’ development, commercial, and operational value chain.

 

This is a domain-led AI product management role focused on translating NGV’s business priorities into practical, scalable, and responsible AI-enabled products. The role bridges energy infrastructure expertise, stakeholder needs, and technical delivery teams to drive measurable value across development, commercial, regulatory, and operational workflows. The role ensures digital products deliver measurable commercial, operational, and regulatory value, translating business strategy into clear product roadmaps and working closely with business leaders, technology teams, and delivery partners throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Accountabilities

  • Define and execute AI product roadmap aligned with NGV business priorities in conjunction with business leads and the Corporate IT&D group
  • Shape and product-manage AI-enabled capabilities, including Copilot-based workflows, large language model applications, knowledge retrieval tools, and agentic use cases, while partnering with IT&D and technical teams to define platform, data, integration, and infrastructure requirements
  • Provide energy-domain subject matter expertise across transmission, generation, large-load interconnections, commercial development, and asset development to ensure AI and digital products are grounded in real business workflows and decision needs
  • Act as a change agent for AI and digital adoption by leading internal knowledge-sharing forums, developing practical standards and playbooks, supporting responsible AI practices, and enabling improved business development, commercial analytics, and investment decision-making
  • Ensure alignment and compliance with National Grid digital, data, AI, security, and architecture standards, and support further development of standards and processes to meet future business needs
  • Act as the primary product interface for Commercial GenCo, Competitive Transmission, Asset Development, and other internal stakeholder groups
  • Lead structured discovery processes to validate business problems, user needs, data readiness, technical feasibility, benefits, risks, and investment cases before product build or adoption
  • Define and track product KPIs, benefits, and value realization metrics aligned to transmission, generation, and large load business outcomes
  • Manage the product lifecycle by monitoring usage, user feedback, model/tool performance, emerging AI capabilities, and business value; refine high-value features and recommend retirement or replacement of low-value capabilities
  • Support governance forums, sanction papers, and investment approvals with clear product narratives and trade-offs
  • Coordinate with other internal teams including engineering, commercial, regulatory, development, finance, legal, procurement, and other teams to understand and identify business workflows, prioritize AI use cases, and translate operational needs into clear business requirements, product specifications, and implementation plans
  • Monitor external AI, energy technology, and digital product trends through industry conferences, other business units, vendor briefings, peer benchmarking, and market engagement; translate relevant insights into NGV product strategy and innovation opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Computer Science, Economics, Business or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in energy infrastructure or utilities (Master’s preferred)
  • Experience shaping, delivering, or adopting AI/ML-enabled products, digital tools, analytics platforms, or workflow automation solutions in a business environment
  • Strong understanding of energy sector fundamentals – markets, technologies, business models (i.e. transmission, generation, utilities’ frameworks)
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decision making
  • Experience supporting investment cases, discovery phases, portfolio prioritization or digital transformation initiatives
  • Experience working with agile and hybrid product development and delivery models
  • Experience evaluating make-versus-buy decisions, including custom digital product development, configuration of enterprise platforms, vendor solutions, and off-the-shelf AI-enabled tools
  • Experience managing consultants, vendors, or delivery partners, including defining scope, managing budgets, tracking schedules, reviewing deliverables, and assessing performance
  • Significant experience in Digital Product Management, ideally in asset-intensive, regulated, or infrastructure-led environments
  • Experience defining and delivering data-enabled, AI-enabled, or automation-enabled products from concept through adoption
  • Familiarity with enterprise data platforms, cloud environments, AI governance, responsible AI practices, analytics tools, or large language model applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI services, Power Platform, enterprise knowledge management, or similar AI/digital platforms
  • Experience with commercial analytics, project/product development, investment decision support, asset management, or regulatory workflows in the energy sector

Salary

Downstate NY: $189,000 - $222,000 a year

New England MA: $177,000 - $208,000 a year
