Job Purpose
National Grid is seeking a highly experienced Lead Program Manager to oversee complex civil and environmental remediation projects, particularly sediment cleanup. This role requires strong project management, financial oversight, contractor and consultant management, and environmental remediation experience. The Lead Program Manager will provide leadership and coordination across engineering and remediation activities, ensuring that company standards, regulatory requirements, and project objectives are met.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the Principal Program Manager and SIR Regional Director in achieving strategic and operational goals.
- Manage consultants, contractors, and administrative teams.
- Support procurement activities and contract administration, including reviewing invoices and change notices and recommending payment or rejection.
- Ensure financial controls are maintained and project documentation is audit-ready.
- Partner with technical subject-matter experts and the Principal Program Manager for assigned projects to drive execution and project strategy.
- Review contractor plans, cost estimates, and design drawings for alignment with specifications and contract terms.
- Perform and oversee detailed reviews of cost-estimate assumptions, unit rates, quantities, and supporting documentation.
- Conduct site visits to monitor work progress, document findings, and identify required follow-up actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, engineering management, geology, environmental science, or a related discipline required.
- At least 10 years of experience in environmental remediation, construction management, program management, project controls, engineering, or related infrastructure projects required.
- At least 5 years managing complex civil or environmental construction projects, including collaboration with project accounting and estimating teams required.
- At least 5 years of experience in construction financial management, cost development, or financial assurance required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of environmental remediation, cost estimating, construction management, financial controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to interpret technical plans, cost assumptions, schedules, and supporting project documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
- AutoCAD / Civil 3D – For reviewing and interpreting engineering design drawings required.
- Microsoft Excel (Advanced skills) required.
- Primavera P6 or MS Project for construction scheduling and milestone tracking required.
- GIS Software (e.g., ArcGIS) for spatial analysis of environmental data and site mapping required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred (or willingness to obtain it within three years).

Salary: $142,000.00 - 1666,000.00 USD Annually
