About the Jump Start Program

The National Grid “Jump Start” program provides our communities with access to an affordable education, early career professional working experience, and enables a seamless transition into a full-time role in the workplace. This position is specifically targeting talent who will have achieved a High School Diploma/GED prior to the July start date. As a Jump Start participant, you will work in a full-time position in National Grid 's Finance team while also pursuing a Bachelor's degree full-time which is fully funded by National Grid (certain exclusions apply). The program includes rotations which will provide you with exposure to many finance disciplines.

 

“Jump Start” establishes a clear career trajectory for you by providing a tiered structure, where initial rotation placements are intentionally transactional based to assist with building financial acumen and familiarity with the various systems used by National Grid. This initial placement builds a foundation for you to grow confidence within the organization and hit the ground running as the program progresses.

 


This is a hybrid role with flexible 1-3 days per week in the 2 Hanson Place, Brooklyn, NY office.

What You'll Do

You will be exposed to various finance disciplines over the course of your rotations geared toward uncovering your passion and career aspirations. This includes, but is not limited to:

· Finance Data and Reporting (FDRO) and Record to Report (R2R): Participant is given foundational knowledge for national grid systems & processes, meanwhile playing a pivotal role in the governance, simplification, and optimization of our data systems.

· Tax and Audit: Participant exercises attention to detail through risk management, governance & controls processes. Skillsets carried forward include strategic tax insights &understanding risk when working with the business in the future, driving company value by enabling better business decision making.

· Group Financial Control: Develop action oriented and value-add storytelling capabilities to enhance financial reporting, planning, and analysis.

· Enterprise Business Partnering: Participant will fine-tune stakeholder management skills and build professional relationships. In turn influencing the business to make informed decisions by linking operational drivers and financial impacts.

· Insurance and Claims: Participant will enhance customer service, time management and organizational skills to process customer claims and provide policy documentation and coverage verification to ensure accurate and efficient operations.

What You Need

· High School Diploma / GED earned prior to the July 2025 start date

· Aspirations to pursue and achieve a bachelor’s degree in finance or business discipline

· Great communication skills

· Outstanding work ethic and commitment to learn and develop, with a passion to succeed

· 18 years or older at start date
