Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.
About the Position
Are you ready to step into a leadership role that keeps communities safe and warm? As an Associate Supervisor in Gas Field Operations, you’ll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to ensuring the safety, reliability, and integrity of our gas distribution system. You’ll supervise both internal teams and contracted personnel, making sure that work gets done on time and within budget. This role combines office administration with hands-on field support, giving you a chance to make a real impact!
This is an on-site role that can be based in Brooklyn or Queens, NY.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll be part of a team of supervisors and inspectors managing a $400 million portfolio focused on replacing and updating our gas infrastructure. Here’s what you’ll be up to:
- Team Leadership: Supervise a culturally diverse workforce, providing coaching, counseling, and team-building to ensure tasks are completed efficiently, including managing contracted teams.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure your team follows safety standards and policies to create a safe working environment and minimize risks.
- Strategic Execution: Translate strategies into actionable plans that deliver sustainable policies and practices, and communicate these plans across all levels of the organization.
- Relationship Building: Build strong working relationships with internal and external customers, managing day-to-day interactions to understand their needs and deliver effective solutions within National Grid policies.
- Emergency Response: Provide supervision and support for personnel engaged in a 24/7 operation, ensuring quick and effective emergency responses.
- Digital Transformation: Help modernize our operations by leveraging your data and engineering background to support our goal of going digital.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026
- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Brooklyn or Queens, NY $92,000 - $108,000 a year
You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
