National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.
Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.
Information Technology and Digital Graduate Rotations
In IT & Digital, we’re working at the heart of change and harnessing the power of technology to build a cleaner, fairer, and more affordable future for all. Innovation is providing our edge in finding a better way for everyone. In fact, we like to think of ourselves as a band of unsung heroes. Our IT Graduate Development Rotational Program will provide you with the opportunity to be at the heart of this transformation. The program consists of an 18-month exploration consisting of three 6-month rotations in varying IT & Digital departments. Your first rotation will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following two broadening 6-month rotations where you will solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.

This is a hybrid role with flexible 1-2 days per week in the office.
What You’ll Do
You will join a team working with modern technology and develop in-demand skills that will build a strong foundation for your career. You’ll be involved in a large-scale transformation project, upgrading our SAP software to the cloud (S/4HANA) as we embark on this multi-year journey through 2028. You will be a part of our commitment to clean energy and make a positive impact in a rapidly evolving industry, driving innovation and contributing to a sustainable future. Here's what you'll be up to:
- Team Up: Work alongside lead engineers to design, develop, test, and implement SAP Finance and Supply Chain solutions. Your contributions will help us stick to coding standards and best practices.
- Get Hands-On: Support the lead engineer in configuring and customizing SAP Finance functionalities, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, and Financial Reporting.
- Document Your Journey: Help create technical specifications, user manuals, and training materials for our SAP Finance solutions.
- Collaborate & Share: Join team meetings, engage in discussions, and share knowledge with your peers to foster a culture of learning and growth.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferably in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or other related business fields.
- Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026
- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
It would be awesome if you had
- Previous experience in a club/organization that is team-oriented
- Previous internship/work experience in software engineering and/or finance

Salary Range
Brooklyn, NY $85,000 - $100,000 a year
Waltham, MA $79,000 - $93,000 a year
You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
