National Grid is hiring an Executive Advisor to NGV US President. This position can sit in either out Brooklyn NY, Melville NY, Hicksville NY, Beacon MA, or Waltham MA location.
Job Purpose
- Serve as a strategic partner and force multiplier, advise and help think through major decisions, serving as a sounding board the NGV US President to maximize their effect and impact.
- Drive forward progress on organizational goals by following up and tracking commitments and removing obstacles that could slow down execution.
- Serve as a liaison between the NGV US President and the rest of the organization.
- Communicate decisions and priorities throughout the company and synthesize information flowing up to the NGV US President.
- Keep a pulse on the organization: identify issues early, understand the cross-functional dynamics and help the NGV US President stay connected to what’s happening across the company.
- Develop strong relationships across National Grid and the NGV US and UK business, serving as a visible point of contact for employees, and feeding back insight and understanding of the needs of the business to the NGV US President
Key Accountabilities
- Management of one direct report
- Ensure the successful execution of:
- Key events
- Reporting and governance
- Calendar and agenda management
- Preparing and updating business strategy and plans.
- Prepare NGV US President for external and internal engagements
- Support the NGV US President with the delivery of key strategic projects
- Travel up to 25% will be required
Qualifications
- This role requires significant self-direction and adaptability
- Strong intellectual capability with the capacity to grasp complex subject matter quickly
- Comfortable operating at both a strategic and tactical level, with an emphasis on executing effectively and at pace – all with minimal direction
- Ability to successfully prioritize and handle multiple tasks and be comfortable with ambiguity
- Comfortable interacting with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders of all levels of seniority
- Develops own viewpoint on matters and is comfortable challenging colleagues’ ideas and opinions for the purpose of achieving the best outcome for the team
- Familiar with National Grid culture but open to new ideas, ways of working, etc.
- Knowledge and appreciation of the global nature of the NGV team, and its place at National Grid
- Ability to influence others - evidence of excellent relationship building ability across a wide variety of audiences and situations
- Ability to bring creative and innovative approaches to the business, including engagement and communication
- Demonstrates a sound level of commercial and operational acumen to achieve business objectives
- Demonstrable passion and commitment to excellence in continuous improvement and quality; strongly results orientated
- The highest standard of personal and professional integrity, as well as a high level of discretion to deal with confidential matters
Salary
Downstate NY $136,000 - $160,000 a year
New England MA $127,000 - $149,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
