Job Purpose

Under the guidance of the Dispatching Supervisor the dispatcher has the responsibility of overseeing and directly controlling the efficient assigning and monitoring of all system generated and manual work orders. The Dispatcher will work in conjunction with the Field Operations Supervisor ensuring the timely completion of all dispatched work orders. The function of this position is to ensure the proper and efficient allocation of time and resources, allowing Service Technicians to efficiently perform all work associated with the Utilities scope of responsibility. In addition, the Dispatcher is responsible to maintain open communication between Service Technicians, Field Supervision, Dispatching Supervision and the Call Center Supervisors

Key Accountabilities

The candidate must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Candidate must have the ability to work an assigned shift to accommodate the business needs within a 24-hour timeframe . The candidate shall have excellent oral and written communication skills, possess the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. The candidate will be working in a high volume, high stress position and should also be able to prioritize Emergency as well as Non-Emergency service calls. Working independently and being a motivated self starter is an important aspect of this position. Have a strong work ethic, exhibit the ability to work independently, excellent computer navigation skills (move between multiple windows and programs) and possess strong communication skills over all platforms. The candidate must be familiar with Gas Operations. Candidate must be willing to perform all the duties including but not limited to a Distribution Dispatcher {DCD}, a Priority Dispatcher{PRI}, Central Mainframe Operator {CMO}and Priority Mainframe Operator {PRIMO) 

Qualifications

Applicants Who Possess the Following Qualifications Will Be Considered:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Software {i.e. EXCEL, Microsoft Word} Mainframe knowledge of CRIS3, DPMS, DIS, CWQ is a plus. Knowledge of National Grid Territories {Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens}is preferred. General company knowledge, training, physical ability, skill, efficiency, satisfactory performance appraisals and attendance record. Selected candidate will be expected to work overtime in accordance with departmental requirements. Experience working within Gas Operations organizations is preferred. Employees selected for this classification will be required to participate in federally mandated drug testing programs.

Pay Rate: $ 55.11 per hour
