NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution) is undergoing a significant transformation, with a strong emphasis on enhancing business and financial performance across all levels of the organization.

The Senior FP&A Manager - Reporting & Performance plays a pivotal role in managing financial and operational reporting for the NGED business, ensuring appropriate management information flow to support business strategy

You will lead the consolidation, analysis, and presentation of financial performance insights across the NGED Business, ensuring that senior leadership has timely, accurate, and actionable financial information to support strategic decisions. With a focus on financial & capital investment performance, regulatory reporting, and operational excellence, the role combines technical financial expertise with strong business partnering and data insight capabilities.

This role is based at our Warwick or Bristol Avonbank office with an expectation of around two in-office days per week—specific days to be agreed with your team. You're welcome to come in more often, and we're happy to discuss any flexibility needed to support your working preferences.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead Management & Financial Reporting: Take ownership of monthly and quarterly performance cycles, producing high-quality reporting packs for Executive and Board audiences. Deliver clear, insightful narratives backed by robust variance analysis to highlight key drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Shape Capital Investment Insights: Oversee financial reporting for a £1.5bn annual investment portfolio, ensuring visibility of spend, phasing, and returns. Work closely with finance business partners to track performance against plans and provide actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Inspire & Develop Talent: Manage and mentor a small team of reporting analysts, building a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement. Present complex financial insights in a clear, impactful way to senior stakeholders, including the CFO and Executive Committee.
  • Drive Innovation & Efficiency: Champion automation and dashboard development (e.g., Power BI), enhance data integrity, and streamline FP&A processes. Lead continuous improvement initiatives and support system upgrades or integration projects to strengthen reporting capability.
  • Collaborate Across the Business: Partner with finance teams, operational leaders, and project managers to ensure consistency and transparency in financial and project reporting.

What You'll Have:

  • You’re a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with minimum 7+years experience in FP&A, management reporting or financial analysis.
  • Ideally, you’ve worked in energy, utilities, infrastructure or other capital-intensive industries and understand the complexity of large-scale investment.
  • You’re tech-savvy with strong knowledge of financial systems (E5, Hyperion) and data visualisation tools like Power BI.
  • Comfortable handling large, complex data sets, you can consolidate reporting across multiple entities with ease.
  • You’ve delivered high-quality management information in big organisations (£500m+ turnover) and know how to make numbers tell a story.
  • A natural analyst and communicator, you turn data into actionable insights and present them confidently to non-financial audiences.
  • You’re a leader and mentor, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement within your team.
  • Skilled in Excel modelling, data manipulation, and process redesign, you thrive on solving problems and driving efficiency.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. So, if you’re excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don’t match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway.
