National Grid is hiring a Employee Relations Coordinator to provide Proactive coordination and data support to Employee Relations & Case Management team and to ER activities.
Within the role you will be supporting employee processes (such as Disciplinary, Grievance; Performance Improvement, Discrimination Bullying & Harassment, Absence) across National Grid Electricity Distribution. Assisting the team to ensure that Investigations/meetings are arranged promptly, that accurate notes are produced and that all data reporting is accurate and enables consistent business decisions to be made.
We offer flexible hybrid working arrangements. We’d hope to see you in our Bristol office one or 2 days a week, or alternatively we have base sites in Cardiff, Birmingham, Worchester if these locations are nearer,
There also may be some adhoc travel to different sites.
What you'll do
- Provision of tier 1 advice, directing customers to the correct channel and policy
- Administer all invites, letters and documentation relating to ER processes
- Obtain and organise meetings for Decision Makers and investigation managers for processes as required, ensuring speedy deployment to ensure processes are expedited.
- Arrange meeting rooms as appropriate for meetings/processes, ensuring all parties are informed of venues and times
- Understand company policies/processes to advise on the appropriate early course of action (e.g. where to start in the relevant procedure) and /or refer to ER advisors/specialists as necessary.
- Support processes as Notetaker and updating data recording to ensure compliance with SLA’s
- Ensure monitoring of timescales and reviews in cases where appropriate
- Work with ER team to ensure appropriate Managers are sourced for ER processes on a timely basis.
- Ensure investigation reports are retained and saved accordingly checking for completeness of documentation.
- Monitoring the investigation timeline, escalating within the ER team as appropriate
- Ensure all files/documentation are complete and contain all of the relevant documentation and that they are retained securely, in an organised manner on SharePoint
- Administer scheduling activity and related admin for all cases/processes
- Ensure HRIS is audited and updated regularly and there is clarity around which documents are to be saved and retained
- As required, source and organise documents for inclusion in Employment Tribunal bundles and Data requests.
- Attendance at ER & Case Management team meetings
- Actively manage own personal development
- Lead minor project work across the team as appropriate when requested
What you'll need
- Proven ER advisory experience in order to understand the context of the work being coordinated
- Excellent organisation skills, data reporting and manipulation skills.
- An understanding of and ability to interpret company policies, especially those most pertinent to case activity/employee conduct (such as Disciplinary, Code of Ethics, Grievance, Performance Improvement, Managing Sickness Absence, Respect at Work etc.)
- Excellent customer focus, ensuring that all key stakeholders are kept informed of processes and that we are driving improved results for customers
- Awareness of GDPR and confidentiality in all ER matters
- Skilled with Word; PowerPoint and Excel; SharePoint, outlook applications & familiar with HRIS applications
- Ability to run and interpret reports for specified requirements.
- Organised and attentive to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritise as required
- Evidence of ER advice experience, gained in a complex environment.
- Exceptional organisational experience including using systems and tools to support efficient working.
- Working experience SharePoint and HRIS applications.
- Understanding of HR practices and processes

A competitive salary between £36,343 - £39,549 per annum– dependent on capability.
