National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK.

As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we are able to meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.

 

We’re currently recruiting for a Site Supervisor to play a key part of the Interconnector Construction Directorate where you will be responsible the safe Delivery of Capex projects relating to the Lifetime strategy of the IFA interconnector (IFA) in Sellindge.

 

You will represent National Grid Ventures on construction projects ensuring CDM adherence, safe working and Quality of workmanship by the contractor.

 


As a Site Supervisor you will be responsible for ensuring the contractors RAMS are suitable and sufficient for the works they are contracted to undertake.

 

It's an enormously varied role where you’ll be given the freedom to use your proficiency to aid the safe delivery of projects as you see fit.

 

 

Within the role you will be  tasked with being the ‘boots on ground’ for the projects and are responsible for monitoring the performance of the contractors. 

 

 

The role will be based on site at our interconnector at Sellindge Kent.

What you'll do

 

  • You will be responsible for the monitoring progress, and safety performance, as well as check for quality of work.
  • You will be expected to lead by example and to coach the contractors when issues arise and help to maintain a good safety and quality track record, whilst being mindful that any slippages in programme will impact the operation of the interconnector.
  • You will be required to assist the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor with responses to commercial claims submitted by the contractor, using your knowledge of the progress of the project.
  • You will also support your team in working within a collaborative environment across the supply chain, and theon site Operations team.
  • You will create an atmosphere of trust where no one is isolated and everyone’s opinions are welcomed, learned from, and used to improve things by being fair and honest in your communications. 

What you'll need

 

  • Accomplished knowledge and application of CDM, Safety and Environmental Regulations
  • Knowledge of the Electricity Transmission System.
  • Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions.
  • Expert at engaging stakeholders and working collaboratively to remove blockers
  • Experienced at developing teams and delivering high quality results
  • Strong Communication skills and understanding of the importance of collaboration and stakeholder management.

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary between £51,000 - £60,000 – dependent on capability.
