National Grid is hiring a Lead Program Manager, Site Investigation and Remediation for our Site Investgation and Remediation department in Syracuse, NY.

Job Purpose

To provide independent assurance that appropriate regulatory controls and a robust environmental management system are in place in order to meet key legislative requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Establish, implement and manage the environmental compliance assurance strategy to meet key legislative requirements for the business area.
  • Develop, manage and strengthen the environmental management framework across the business area and assess the effectiveness of the organization to consistently adhere to it.
  • Proactively influence Senior Leaders across the business to ensure they are managing and discharging obligations under the respective environmental legislation/environmental permit conditions.
  • Establish and manage an appropriate network of industry bodies and standards organizations to promote best practice and knowledge sharing in the field of assurance and influence legislative changes.
  • Develop and deliver incisive internal intervention plan on emerging risk situations to proactively assess legislative compliance.
  • Proactive identification of control gaps and/or weakness in compliance which have the potential to lead to external enforcement action.
  • Monitor and review the performance against the environmental management framework and assess the appropriateness of control measures to manage risks.

Qualifications

  • Degree level education in an environmental engineering/management discipline (Desirable)
  • Membership of relevant professional body

More Information

Salary: $115,000 - $135,000
