Job Purpose
The Lead Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing the full lifecycle of complex electric infrastructure projects (distribution, transmission, substation, and DOT relocations), from front-end development through execution and close-out. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational goals, policies, and standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead cross-functional teams to establish project requirements and milestones, ensuring adherence to frameworks, policies, procedures, controls, and reporting for efficient project delivery.
- Manage all phases of assigned projects, including planning, design, permitting, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out; activities include:
- sign off and deliver projects to approved scope, cost estimate, schedule, and resource plan
- control project scope, cost, quality, schedule, and risk management, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and company standards
- acquire required permits, licenses, and land rights; manage engineering and design deliverables
- administer contracted services, equipment, and material procurement
- interface with operations and ensure successful commissioning and project acceptance
- provide regular project status reports to team members and stakeholders
- Mentor and support project managers at all levels.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying and leading process and policy enhancements (e.g., forecasting, schedule templates, contracts).
- Foster a high-performance team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
- Seek and promote best practices in project management within the team and work group.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of project management experience in utility operations, engineering, construction or equivalent relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or project management related discipline and/or significant relevant project management, engineering, and/or construction experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or Professional Engineer’s (PE) license preferred
- Exceptional skills in conflict resolution, negotiation, leadership, and stakeholder management.
- Proven experience in direct project development and design, including milestone management, resourcing, affordability, risk management, reporting, and team leadership.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight budget, time, and resource constraints.
- Knowledge of power system operations, electrical and civil engineering, environmental, engineering economics, and familiarity with legal, purchasing, and utility accounting regulations.
- Strong technical writing, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history required.

Salary: $127,000.00 - $149,000.00 USD
