About the Position:
 

We are presently seeking to fill a Fleet Technician A (C Vacancy) position at our Albany location, with a minimum starting pay rate of $36.67. Under direct supervision to perform ordinary types of repair and maintenance work on equipment, such as adjusting and relining brakes, grinding valve seats, refacing and adjusting valves; and to assist Fleet Technicians of a higher grade.

 

Job Qualifications:
 
The qualified candidate for this opportunity must possess:
 

  • New York State Inspection License is preferred (heavy duty, light duty and emissions).
  • Class A CDL License is preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) valid ASE certifications, including but not limited to T-1, T-2, T-4, T-5, T-8 or Equivalent is preferred 
  • Complete set of professional grade automotive repair tools required. 
  • Basic computer knowledge required.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Mechanics is required (heavy duty experience (trucks) and/or light duty).

Salary:

$36.67/Hr

 

 

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.

 

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union.  Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
