National Grid is hiring a Coordinator, Community Engagement. This role is based in our Albany, NY offices. This is a hybrid role, with a mix of office and remote work.

Job Purpose

The purpose of Corporate Affairs is to assist in building the reputation of National Grid to meet the company’s strategic and community goals. As Community Coordinator, you will support the External Affairs team based in the Eastern Division and enhance National Grid’s profile with regional communities and organizations through administrative support, resource coordination and project management. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Participate in the development of external engagement strategies including managing project budgets and grant administration. 
  • Plan and track activities associated with key community organizations and influencers. 
  • Organize and oversee volunteer projects across the region in partnership with local non-profit organizations and municipalities. 
  • In coordination with the regional external affairs managers identify engagement opportunities and provide metrics. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders in collaboration with regional external affairs managers. 
  • Identify and evaluate sponsorship opportunities aligned with company goals. 
  • Coordinate with the Social Impact COE as needed. 
  • Advise senior leaders on community insights to inform engagement decisions. 
  • Track and report progress against KPIs, inform regular updates to leadership and performance reporting (e.g.. BRM). 
  • Attend community and volunteer events outside of normal business hours. 
  • Support emergency response efforts during extreme weather events or outages – including outside normal business hours. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience in a community organization, corporate giving, volunteerism, or nonprofit operations. 
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Eastern New York and occasionally outside the region. 
  • Build and maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Resolve issues and concerns through proactive engagement. 
  • Collaborative experience in a large, complex organization delivering integrated campaigns. 
  • Manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards aligned with company values. 
  • Ability to communicate skills for diverse audiences. 
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and community initiatives. 
  • Plan, execute, measure, and report corporate affairs activities. 
  • Be highly organized with strong attention to detail. 
  • Have a results-oriented mindset and adaptable to change and ambiguity. 
  • Understand business fundamentals and strategy. 
  • Build internal networks and communicate effectively. 
  • Proficient in digital tools for tracking engagement activities and administering grants and sponsorships.

Salary

$70K - $80K a year
