About the role

Finance Business Partners help National Grid make sound financial and operational decisions. As an Analyst supporting New York Electric, you will turn financial and operational data into clear insights that help leaders understand performance, manage risks and opportunities, and make informed decisions.

 


This role is ideal for someone who enjoys financial analysis, modeling, and partnering with stakeholders to turn complex information into clear, actionable insights. We are looking for a curious, collaborative, and motivated individual who is eager to learn, take on new challenges, and grow within a dynamic business environment. The Analyst will support monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and ad hoc decision-making, helping leaders make informed financial and operational decisions across the New York Electric business.

 


This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing employees to work both remotely and on-site. Specific in-office days will be determined in coordination with the team and management to support effective collaboration and communication.

What You'll Do

• Support New York Electric leaders and key stakeholders through effective financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and clear communication of key takeaways.
• Prepare monthly performance materials and communicate results in a style suitable for both finance and non-finance audiences, highlighting key drivers, risks, opportunities, and priority areas of focus.
• Build and maintain financial models, data consolidations, and analytical tools to support planning, forecasting, and business decision-making.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate the financial impact of operational changes, capital projects, regulatory items, and business initiatives.
• Identify and track risks and opportunities, and support stakeholders in developing appropriate mitigation plans or action steps.
• Apply strong analytical skills, judgment, attention to detail, and curiosity to solve problems and improve financial insight.
• Navigate ambiguity, take initiative, and prioritize competing deliverables in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
• Respond to ad hoc requests with accuracy, professionalism, and a clear focus on stakeholder needs.
• Develop strong working relationships across teams, functions, and levels, while helping drive accountability and follow-through.

What You'll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2+ years of finance, accounting, FP&A, business partnering, public accounting, utility, or related analytical experience.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to identify key issues, interpret data, and recommend practical solutions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, especially when working with financial results, forecasts, and business performance data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
• Ability to collaborate, iterate, influence, and build trust across a matrixed organization.
• Self-starter mindset with curiosity, ownership, and the ability to work through ambiguity.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with financial modeling, data consolidation, and data analysis.
• Experience with SAP and/or Power BI is a plus.
• Knowledge of planning, forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and financial reporting processes.

Annual Salary:

Syracuse/Albany:  $87,000-$102,000

Brooklyn/NYC:  $105,000-$123,000
