Job Purpose
Lead the delivery of the DSO strategy, regulatory, finance and business capabilities to enable effective decision-making, driving value, and performance. Lead Analyst will support Director of DSO within Digital Solutions team.

As the Lead Analyst for DSO, you will develop a deep understanding of the global energy and utility industries, support DSO strategy to transform National Grid, and secure senior executive buy-in to strategic solutions. To be the successful candidate, you have strong analytical skills including the demonstrated ability to develop hypotheses; structure research and conduct analysis; present well-supported conclusions and recommendations.
You have effective stakeholder management skills and can bring insights & experience to shape policies and flexibility offerings. A plus if you have already done multiple strategic/policy planning in the energy and utility industries.
As a Lead Analyst for DSO your primary responsibilities include:
- Support overall development of strategic plan and coordinate with Finance on business plan.
- Lead the development of regulatory and policy plan including gathering key insights to shape policies and support discussions with regulators.
- Manage DSO capabilities roadmap by working with cross-functional teams and SMEs. This includes identifying interdependencies and risks between flexibility offerings, operations, regulations, technology and finance.
- Collaborate with Electric, Customer, Regulatory, Finance & IT team members to share and further refine your insights that will feed into the final recommendations and presentations we make to senior leadership.
- Track trends in the energy and utility industries including policy, market, customer, competitors, and technology changes.
- Build partnerships with peer utilities & other external entities and support cross-collaboration within National Grid US & UK to gather insights & best practices.
- Collect and analyze data from a variety of primary and secondary sources and effectively communicating your findings and insights to the team in both verbal and written form. Draft reports for various leadership and stakeholder forums.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
- Background in management consulting or strategy development a plus
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with people at all levels and across organizational boundaries
- Ability to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in economics/finance/engineering/ public policy with seven years relevant work experience; Master’s/MBA degree a plus
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Working knowledge of the energy and electric and/or gas energy industries
- Regulatory and policy knowledge on electric transmission and distribution
- Customer programs and flexibility offerings knowledge in electric transmission and distribution
- Strong analytical skills and fluency with Excel, Powerpoint, and digital whiteboarding tools

Salary:
Upstate, NY: $124,000 - $145,000
Downstate, NY: $150,000 - $176,000
This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
